Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro review: Fully upgraded configuration and more practical functions

In the current environment of the Android tablet market, Xiaomi Mi Pad 6 Pro is a product that balances the hardware as much as possible, and gradually completes the functions and improves the experience in the software.

Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro specs and features:

Appearance Design

The first impression of Xiaomi Mi Pad 6 Pro is that it has a strong metal texture, which is a very obvious improvement compared to Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro. From the feel and visual point of view of the rear shell material, it is closer to the previous generation 12.4-inch large-screen version, but it is significantly lighter in the hand.

Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro still adopts a square body shape, and the presence of the edge of the rear shell is relatively strong when held. After actual measurement, Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro has a thickness of 6.5mm and a weight of about 486g, which is relatively light and thin among similar products. But if you install the keyboard case specially designed for it by Xiaomi, the weight will increase to 990g.

On the square camera module, we can clearly see the words 50MP. Although most people don’t take pictures with a tablet, but if you really want to use it to take pictures of courseware, documents or certificates, high resolution still has certain advantages.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 6 Pro maintains the quad stereo speaker design. There are two sets of holes on the left and right sides of the middle frame, the positions are symmetrical and the volume is loud. Since the rear shell and the middle frame are not a splicing structure but a wrapping structure, and all the antenna strips have been removed, the visual and hand-feeling unity is very prominent.

Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is also equipped with a power button with fingerprint recognition – unlocking is very fast. However, since the tablet has two modes of use, horizontal screen and vertical screen, it is recommended that you enter at least 2 fingerprints to facilitate the unlocking experience under different holding postures. In addition, after entering fingerprints, when installing applications from third-party download channels, fingerprints can also be used for authorized installation verification.

The Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is equipped with an 11-inch, 2.8K resolution LCD screen. The screen physical frame and screen ratio are consistent with the previous generation, and the screen ratio is still 16:10. There is a circle of black plastic anti-shock brackets around the transition from the screen to the frame.

Screen Features

Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is equipped with an 11-inch screen, 2K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 16:10 screen ratio and 309PPI , making its user experience closer to that of a notebook screen.

The refresh rate supports 30/48/50/60/90/120/144Hz with a total of 7 levels of variable adjustment, which is applicable to a wider range of usage scenarios. Interestingly, although this is an LCD screen, the official provides a low flicker mode in the developer options, which is DC dimming.

In terms of color, Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro supports 10bit color depth, P3 wide color gamut and factory color correction, HDR10, Dolby Vision, etc. The display settings provide professional primary color and true color display options, and also allow users to customize the advanced mode of color temperature tendency. The system display settings provide functions such as super resolution, video frame insertion, and image quality enhancement. Through these options, it can be seen that Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro attaches great importance to the display effect.

After actual measurement, in the professional primary color mode, the screen has a 93.2% sRGB color gamut, 64.6% Adobe RGB and 66.4% DCI-P3 color gamut. The results are also relatively close in the sRGB color gamut option in advanced mode.

However, when I switched to the P3 color gamut, the sRGB color gamut coverage increased to 99.8%, and the Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 color gamut coverage also increased to 82.2% and 97.1%. So friends who pursue rich colors can turn on the P3 color gamut mode.

I also tested the screen color accuracy in P3 color gamut mode, the average Delta E is 0.55, and the maximum Delta E is 1.29. The screen brightness is 450nit, which belongs to professional-level color performance. What is commendable is that there is no color cast problem when squinting at the tablet from a large angle. In actual experience, except for the slight black overflow of the LCD physical frame, there are really no major problems in other aspects of performance.

Configuration and Performance

Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro uses Qualcomm’s high-end flagship chip – Snapdragon 8+. For tablet PC, this will undoubtedly further improve its performance ceiling. After all, the performance of Snapdragon 8+ on mobile phones is relatively good, otherwise it will not become the chip of choice for the current cost-effective flagship products of various manufacturers.

In addition, Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is also equipped with LPDDR5 memory, UFS3.1 flash memory, 8600mAh battery + 67W fast charge, these configurations are undoubtedly prepared for entertainment and game scenarios. Among the current tablet PCs in the Android camp, the configuration of Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is relatively advanced.

In view of the fact that Snapdragon 8+ is already a widely used chip, in terms of theoretical performance, we will simply look at the benchmark scores of GeekBench6 this time. Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro has a single-core score of 1726 points and a multi-core score of 4392 points, which is significantly higher than other Snapdragon 8+ phones with similar configurations. Compared with the Dimensity 9000 chip, it has more advantages, and the single-core score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 is only about 200 points different.

Then I passed the 3D Mark’s Wild Life Extreme Stress Test stress test to see how stable the continuous performance output of Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is. After 20 rounds of stress testing, the stability of Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is as high as 98.3%, which is particularly outstanding among tablet PC.

After reading the theoretical performance test, look at the game performance. I directly selected “Genshin Impact” which reflected the high load. The test condition is an indoor Wi-Fi environment at 25°C, “Genshin Impact” turns on the highest quality plus 60 frames, and turns off motion blur. Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro Game Assistant selects the performance mode, individually sets the GPU parameters of “Genshin Impact” to high quality – that is, the highest resolution.

After 20 minutes of game testing, the average frame rate is 59.3fps, there are not many lags in the game, and the overall game experience is very smooth. Of course, fluency not only refers to frame rate and picture quality, but also touch delay and temperature. The maximum temperature of the fuselage during the game is only 41.3°C.

Accessories of Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro

In terms of accessories, Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is equipped with a keyboard case and a new generation of Xiaomi stylus. Among them, the Xiaomi smart touch keyboard adopts a one-piece design and is available in black and white. The Xiaomi touch keyboard supports adaptive backlight adjustment and a glass touchpad with a global press function, and the touch area has also increased by 16%. Support independent ESC key, which can further improve operation efficiency.

The back of the Xiaomi Smart Touch Keyboard has a bracket that supports 110°-165° opening and closing, which can make the angle of use of the tablet more flexible.

Xiaomi has also added an NFC functional area to the wrist rest of the trackpad. Turn on NFC on both the mobile phone and the tablet at the same time, and you can use the mobile phone to directly touch the identification area to quickly transfer pictures, which is very convenient.

The Xiaomi stylus has also received some upgrades, such as ultra-low latency, 150 hours of continuous writing, and 5g sensitive ink output. When the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is used with the keyboard case, the magnetic area on the top is convenient for quick storage and charging of the stylus – 7 hours of writing after 1 minute of charging.

Conclusion

In the current environment of the Android tablet market, Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is a product that balances the hardware as much as possible, and gradually completes the functions and improves the experience in the software.

As far as the review results are concerned, the design of Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro is not very outstanding, but at least it can’t go wrong. The screen and performance experience are remarkable, and the texture of the accessories is further enhanced to make up for the shortcomings – it should be said that it is a more sincere product.
