The Redmi Buds 7S delivers standard performance in terms of fit, build quality, noise cancellation, and call quality – compact and affordable. However, you may notice that the default tuning slightly weakens the midrange. The noise cancellation performance may not meet high expectations.

Appearance Design & Comfort Fit
The green color of Redmi Buds 7S and Redmi Buds 6 Pro both look low in saturation and high in brightness. The charging case is small, consistent with Redmi’s entry-level semi-in-ear TWS earbuds, slightly wider than the AirPods Pro series but otherwise compact.
The white and green versions feature a leather-like texture on the lid, though it’s actually plastic. The bottom has a fine matte finish, offering a pleasant feel but is prone to scratches.
The LED lights and USB-C port are located on the front – when the battery is above 75%, all four LED lights will light up.
The earbuds follow a conventional long-stem semi-in-ear design, similar to the previous model. The stem has a matte metallic accent that integrates touch controls. Additionally, the Buds 7S retains the wearing sensor, pausing music when removed and resuming playback when worn.
The earbuds have an oval-shaped, well-filled cavity. The fit is comparable to the Apple AirPods 3, with a slightly more forward center of gravity, eliminating any sense of sagging. Stability is not an issue, and the fit is better than the Xiaomi Buds 5.
Connection & App Support
The earbuds use a Bluetooth 5.4 chip and support SBC and AAC codecs. The connection remains stable within 10 meters of the phone. In an environment without obstacles, the connection will be intermittent when the distance from the phone exceeds 10 meters.
Also, the Buds 7S supports multipoint connection, meaning you can connect it to two devices at the same time and switch between them when you receive a call, or when you pause on one device, and play on the other.
Redmi Buds 7S support Xiaomi Earbuds App for iOS and Android. The app includes firmware updates for the earbuds, show the battery status of the earbuds, helps you find the earbuds when you’ve lost them, setting the controls, and activate the multipoint connection/adaptive audio/wearing detection/auto answer call.
The app also lets you choose ANC settings and sound presets – it looks and operates simple. The spatial audio is limited to certain Xiaomi phone models and can only be enabled via Bluetooth settings. The “find headset” feature relies on loud audio cues, which may be ineffective in noisy environments or when the earbuds are in the case.
The voice prompts are not loud enough to be heard in a noisy environment. Wearing detection is fast, but prompt sounds lag, and frequent operations may cause misrecognition.
Battery Life & Gaming Mode & Controls
The Redmi Buds 7S does not has a dedicated low-latency game mode. Playing games and watching videos is no problem, it works flawlessly on both Android and iPhone with perfect sound and picture sync.
Compared to most wireless earbuds, the Buds 7S shows no significant latency optimization.
Xiaomi claims 6.5 hours of playback (ANC off, AAC, 50% volume) and 32 hours total with the case. In actual testing (ANC and adaptive audio on, default settings, Apple Music Lossless at 50% volume), playback lasted about 4 hours.
The operation relies on touch recognition in the upper area of the stem – single-tap, double-tap, triple-tap and long press are supported. By default, single-tap is disabled, double-tap controls playback, and triple-tap skips tracks – this is a bit strange.
Long press switches ANC modes, which can be customized. There will be a more obvious delay when switching the noise cancellation mode, and it will automatically turn off for one second each time it is switched.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) & Calls
As semi-in-ear earbuds, the Buds 7S inherently lack strong passive noise isolation, relying heavily on microphone performance and algorithms. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) has two modes, and according to Xiaomi, it should be has adaptive function.
In “Deep ANC” mode, low-frequency steady noises (like vehicle, fan or air conditioning noise) are somewhat reduced, but it just makes you feel that the ambient sound is not so noisy. The midrange voices remain largely unaffected. Compared to the Xiaomi Buds 5, the Buds 7S offers slightly better overall noise cancellation with less ear pressure.
The “Balanced ANC” mode is even less noticeable, and the ear pressure is no lower than that of Deep ANC.
Wind noise resistance is impressive. With Deep ANC on, the Buds 7S effectively suppresses wind noise from all directions, and will not introduce too much wind noise to affect the experience.
For calls, the dual-mic AI noise reduction is unremarkable. The call stability is good, and voice clarity remains decent in noisy or windy conditions. However, like the Xiaomi Buds 5, its own clarity is very average.
Acoustic Architecture & Spatial Audio
The Redmi Buds 7S features a dual-driver architecture: a 12.4mm titanium-coated dynamic driver and a 5.5mm piezoelectric ceramic driver. To be honest, the piezoelectric ceramic driver is not very well suppressed, and the harshness is still easy to audible in some cases.
Spatial audio is supported and more accurate than the Xiaomi Buds 5, but it’s limited to Xiaomi devices and has mediocre Dolby compatibility. Adaptive audio makes little noticeable difference, and Sound ID is also Xiaomi-exclusive.
Sound Description of Redmi Buds 7S
Bass: Light on quantity, lacking thickness and fullness. The elasticity is good, but the extension ability is insufficient. Decay is moderate, with less reverberation. The bass feels “thin” and lacks presence; adaptive compensation doesn’t help much.
Midrange: The vocal distance is not too forward. The imaging clarity is not solid enough, and the presence of the piezoelectric ceramic driver makes this feeling of the mid-high frequency particularly obvious.
No obvious bias between male and female voices, mainly in the change of timbre. The graininess is somewhat retained, and the smoothness is average. The vocal transparent is average, and there is an unnatural brightness enhancement.
Highs: Moderate brightness with some harshness – not too serious in default tuning. The ultra-highs extension is average, but the overall energy of the highs/ultra-highs is more appropriate than that of the Xiaomi Buds 5. The roll-off is a little early, but not too fast.
The thickness of the violin, viola, and guitar is not excessive, and there are not many details of plucking the strings, giving a slight sense of prominence.
The brass instruments lack some grandeur, though the brightness of the trumpet is relatively sufficient. The woodwinds have an overemphasized airiness, which affects the naturalness of their timbre.
The kick drum has a low presence, while the clap and snare exhibit noticeable distortion in their tones, with incorrect imaging positions. The brightness of the cymbals is moderate, carrying a slight sense of sharpness and metallic texture.
The Buds 7S offers five EQ presets and a customizable option (8-band ±4dB adjustment, no Q-value control). The volume boost is “high gain” and makes the energy a bit too concentrated and not very listenable.
Conclusion & Specs
For Xiaomi/Redmi users seeking budget semi-in-ear ANC earbuds, the Redmi Buds 7S is a viable option. Non-Xiaomi users don’t have much need to consider it because you can’t use its spatial audio function.
