    Honor MagicBook Pro 16

With the introduction of the AI PC concept, in the past few months, we can see various PC brands launching corresponding products. This includes the Honor MagicBook Pro 16 brought by HUAWEI some time ago. With the support of Intel Core Ultra processor, can it really bring a new experience in AI productivity?

    Appearance Design & Interface

    Honor MagicBook Pro 16

The body of Honor MagicBook Pro 16 is made of all-metal material, and the texture is very comfortable. Thanks to the good spraying process, it not only improves the feel, but is also wear-resistant and less likely to leave fingerprints.

MagicBook Pro 16 uses a large number of chamfered designs, which makes it significantly different from the common thin-light notebook designs on the market and has a very high degree of recognition. The MagicBook Pro 16 weighs approximately 1.79kg and is approximately 17.9mm thick.

In terms of interfaces, MagicBook Pro 16 is also very rich for today’s thin-light notebooks. The left side of the body is equipped with a 3.5mm audio port, a full-featured USB-C port, and a thunderbolt 4 port. The back of the body is also equipped with two USB-A 3.2 ports and an HDMI 2.1-TMDS port – which can basically meet various daily needs.

Screen: Great display and eye protection

Honor MagicBook Pro 16 is equipped with a 16-inch display, which is indeed a very large size for a notebook. In addition to size, this screen also has good display performance. According to official parameters, it has 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, color accuracy △E<5, and peak brightness reaching 500 nits.

In particular, the peak brightness of 500 nits can help us clearly see the content of the screen in outdoor strong light environments. Plus, it has also passed DisplayHDR 400 certification, which is not only used for creation, but also a good experience in daily entertainment. After all, the MagicBook Pro 16 also supports spatial audio function – the combination of the two will also provide users with a very good audio-visual experience.

For users with different needs, MagicBook Pro 16 also provides three color gamut mode choices: original, sRGB, and P3. For some design-related users, it will be more convenient to switch between multiple color gamut modes.

Also, Honor MagicBook Pro 16 is equipped with Oasis eye protection technology and has passed the German Rheinland hardware low blue light and flicker-free eye protection certification. It has also passed the eye protection test of the National Eye Center of China – it can be said that it has good display quality and can protect the user’s eyes.

Performance: Intel Core Ultra processor, productivity in the AI era

In addition to its excellent design and screen, the biggest highlight of the Honor MagicBook Pro 16 is that it is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra processor. The version I experienced is equipped with an Ultra 5-125H processor, with a 4P+8E+2LPE configuration, 14 cores and 18 threads, and a maximum turbo frequency of up to 4.5GHz. And it also integrates Iris graphics card with 7 Xe cores.

I tested using the CPU Profile of CineBench R3 and 3D Mark respectively. In the CineBench R3 test, the single-core score was 1722 and the multi-core score was 14692. In the 3D Mark CPU Profile test, the 1-thread score was 941, the 2-thread score was 1825, the 4-thread score was 3469, the 8-thread score was 4966, the 16-thread score was 6616, and the maximum thread score was 6642 – all good results, and can meet the needs of daily use.

Of course, compared to the performance of the CPU, what I am more looking forward to seeing is the AI capabilities of Intel Ultra 5-125H. The Ultra processor is deeply optimized for large oracle models, allowing thin-light notebooks to easily handle large models with up to 20 billion parameters. In addition, it can also have higher efficiency when running Stable Diffusion.

From actual experience, with the help of Intel Ultra 5-125H processor, I can also use Stable Diffusion to work on MagicBook Pro 16.

In addition to using third-party AI models, Honor MagicBook Pro 16 also integrates many very practical AI functions. For example, the Magic AI Workbench can support functions such as smart interconnection, global collections, honor notes, and honor calendar. In addition, there is YOYO AI assistant, which has advanced AI semantic understanding capabilities and can realize intelligent search, document summary, intelligent recommendation functions, etc.

    Conclusion & Specs

Honor MagicBook Pro 16 benefits from the use of Intel Ultra 5-125H processor, which will also have excellent performance in AI. The AI era is coming, and MagicBook Pro 16 may be one of the answers to how to allow notebooks to continue to be a productivity tool.
