Edifier LolliClip review: Clip-on earbuds with adaptive ANC

The Edifier LolliClip is a mid-high-end open-ear headphone priced at $130 on AliExpress/Amazon. It is also the world’s first clip-on earbuds to feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and support for the LDAC codec. How does Edifier LolliClip actually perform?

    Appearance Design & Comfort Fit

Edifier LolliClip review: Clip-on earbuds with adaptive ANC

The charging case adopts a pebble-like design, which is relatively simple overall. The surface is made of glossy material. There is an indicator light on the front and no other elements. There is a Type-C charging port on the back.

The Edifier LolliClip earbuds adopts a clip-on design, connecting the two earpieces via a U-shaped curved arm. The overall shape resembles the TOZO Open EarRing and SoundPeats POP Clip, though the sound chamber differs.

The LolliClip’s sound chamber employs a semi-in-ear design, offering a distinct wearing experience. It features a multi curvature air arc soft beam structure combined with high toughness nickel-titanium alloy wires, providing a moderate clamping force.

The actual wearing experience is close to the effect of the combination of clip-on + semi-in-ear. For larger ears, the sound chamber will not fit the ear canal completely, which is different from the semi-in-ear wearing experience. For smaller ears, the sound chamber is closer to the wearing experience of semi-in-ear earbuds.

While not the lightest among clip-on earbuds, the LolliClip’s 6.9g weight remains acceptable. Even after an hour of use, comfort remains strong without significant fatigue.

Connectivity & APP & Health Monitoring

When using for the first time, opening the charging case automatically activates bluetooth pairing mode. Simply select “EDIFIER LolliClip” from your phone’s Bluetooth list to connect.

Additionally, the LolliClip supports multipoint connection and can connect to two devices at the same time.

Edifier LolliClip supports Edifier ConneX App, which provides a wealth of functions. The homepage displays battery status, switch the noise cancellation mode, and music playback controls. Swipe right to switch between different functional areas. The app provides a sports module to record sports data. You can choose different sound effects and switch to different scene modes (music/game/spatial audio).

The app provides heart rate detection and blood oxygen detection functions. After wearing the earbuds correctly, click on the corresponding function to detect heart rate or blood oxygen, and the test results can be viewed in the history.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) & Calls

Edifier LolliClip review: Clip-on earbuds with adaptive ANC

Edifier LolliClip supports adaptive ANC – yes, you read that right – this should be the first clip-on earbuds on the market that supports active noise cancellation. It offers light noise cancellation and ambient sound mode, switchable via the earbuds or app.

In an office, ANC noticeably reduces air conditioning noise, but it can still be heard, and it is relatively quiet overall. On the subway, the subway running noise can be reduced a little, but the noisy sound can still be heard – don’t have too high expectations.

The ambient mode allows nearby conversations to be heard clearly, enabling communication without taking off the earbuds.

Edifier LolliClip has three high-sensitivity microphones on each side, and uses a 3+3Mic AI call noise cancellation algorithm. In testing, the call noise cancellation performance is very good, much better than some single-mic or dual-mic OWS headphones.

    Spatial Audio & Battery Life

The LolliClip supports spatial audio with head tracking, delivering an immersive surround sound experience. When watching movies or gaming, sound direction shifts with head movement, enhancing the sense of presence.

The battery life reaches up to 9 hours per charge (39 hours total) with ANC off, dropping to 6 hours with ANC on. Enabling LDAC will further reduce the battery life. Plus, it supports fast charging function – charge for 15 minutes and listen to music for 3 hours.

Sound Description of Edifier Lolli Clip

Edifier LolliClip review: Clip-on earbuds with adaptive ANC

Edifier LolliClip has a built-in 13mm dynamic driver and is Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified. It supports LDAC codec and can transmit up to 24bit/96kHz audio. When listening to “Hotel California”, the details of the instruments and the singer’s breathing can be clearly presented.

The bass quantity is moderate and the density is full. The bass extends deep and has good elasticity. The drum sound is clear and powerful, with a strong sense of rhythm, suitable for pop, rock and other styles.

The vocals are full, especially the male voices are delicate, and the tail sound details are well restoration. The extension and resolution of the treble instruments (guitar, violin) are excellent, without harshness. The separation between the vocals and instruments is average.

The LolliClip provides four sound modes, including Classic, Bass Boost, Vocal, Treble Boost, which users can adjust according to their personal preferences. For example, after turning on the Bass Boost, the quantity is increased, which is suitable for rock and electronic music; the vocal mode optimizes the vocal performance.

    Conclusion

The Edifier LolliClip performs well in sound quality, combining Hi-Res certification, LDAC codec and spatial audio, it provides a listening experience close to in-ear earbuds while taking into account the comfort of open-ear wearing. For users who pursue high sound quality but don’t like in-ear earbuds, the LolliClip is an option worth considering.
