Libratone AIR+ 3 review: A sincerity product returning after two years

Libratone AIR+ 3rd GEN not only inherits the unique shape of the AIR+ series, but also iterates on noise cancellation performance – bringing an ultra-wideband, ultra-deep noise cancellation experience. So, what is the experience of the Libratone AIR+ 3?

Libratone AIR+ 3 specs and features:
    • Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC/AAC codec
    • 3 – 6 hours playback of per charge (ANC on/off)
    • Charging case can charge earbuds fully 3 times
    • IPX4 waterproof rating (rain and sweat resistant)
    • €170 – Check latest price on Amazon Germany

    Appearance Design – Comfort Fit

The charging case is still made of frosted plastic, with a bird logo in the middle of the front. There is a circular button on the back for reset, pairing and switching devices. There is a USB-C charging port at the bottom. The charging case is very small and is one of the smallest among TWS earbuds.

Similar to Libratone AIR+ 2, the charging case adopts a large top lid design – the opening design is the same as that of Baseus Bowie M2s and Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro. After open the cover, the first thing that catches the eye is the LED strip, which support multiple color lighting effects.

Libratone AIR+ 3 earbuds continue Libratone’s classic triangular earbud stem design, and the earbud cavity is similar to the design of most in-ear earbuds. There are metal contacts on the inside of the stem, and a pickup microphone for Active Noise Cancellation and calls at the bottom. A microphone hole is provided at the connection between the earbud cavity and the stem.

Libratone AIR+ 3 is a standard stem-type in-ear wireless earbuds – thanks to the overall lighter weight and the ergonomic design of the earbud cavity, the earbud fits well with the ear canal and auricle without obvious foreign body sensation.

Connection – App Support – Controls – Battery Life

The earbuds uses the Bluetooth 5.3 chip and support SBC/AAC codec. When connecting for the first time, open the case lid, and the earbuds will enter the connection and pairing mode. At this time, select “Libratone AIR+ 3” from the bluetooth settings of the mobile phone to complete the connection.

After the connection is complete, put the earbuds back into the charging case, and then press and hold the pairing button to connect to a new device, then you can unlock the hidden function of AIR+ 3 – multi-device connection. Once multiple devices have been connected, the earbuds can switch between up to 5 devices with the push of the button.

After the connection is successful, install and open the Libratone App, and you can see the battery level of the earbuds. You can also perform operations such as customizing sound effects, switching noise cancellation mode, and connecting device management – the functions are very rich.

In terms of control, Libratone AIR+ 3 adopts the tapping control scheme. By double-tap and triple-tap the earbuds, you can operate the earbud to play/pause, switch noise cancellation modes, and so on. In addition, you can also set different control methods for the earbuds, and change up to 4 control methods.

The battery capacity of the charging case is 500mAh, and the earbuds is temporarily unknown. After turning off the ANC mode, the single battery life is up to 6 hours, and the total battery life is up to 24 hours. The battery life after turning on the ANC mode is about 3 hours. Also, AIR+ 3 supports wireless charging and fast charging.

    Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)

Active Noise Cancellation is the upgrade focus of Libratone AAIR+ 3. Thanks to the wider noise cancellation frequency band, AIR+ 3 can effectively reduce the noise in the environment – Such as talking, keyboard sound and so on.

In order to meet different users’ acceptance of ear pressure, Air+ 3 still support multi-stage noise cancellation adjustment mode. When ANC is turned on in a quiet environment, it will rely on circuit optimization and microphones to deal with the noise floor of “Sha, Sha”, providing a relatively purer noise cancellation space.

When used outdoors, the noise cancellation capability of Air+ 3 is definitely the first echelon among the current TWS earbuds. Especially the ability to eliminate vocal is significantly better than many wireless earbuds of the same level. In scenes with obvious environmental noise such as subways and airplanes, Air+ 3 can cope well with it – the overall noise cancellation effect is comparable to that of AirPods Pro 2.

When the sports mode is turned on, the earbuds will reduce the expressiveness of the mid-low frequency, so that the user can have the energy to perceive the surrounding environment – but the listening experience will not be affected by the noisy environment around. In terms of the feeling of wearing it while cycling, the effect is indeed better than transparent mode. And thanks to the streamlined design of the earbuds, there will not be too much wind noise interference, taking into account both movement and environmental perception.

Also, Libratone Air+ 3 also supports IPX4 waterproof rating and voice enhancement capabilities for calls in noisy environments – A standard feature in wireless earbuds of the same level.

Acoustic Architecture – Sound Quality Review

Libratone AIR+ 3 review: A sincerity product returning after two years

Libratone AIR+ 3 is equipped with an 11mm dynamic driver, which uses a polymer diaphragm and NdFeB moving coil. And in the Libratone App, it can also be switched for different listening styles, so that the low-frequency or high-frequency has more space to play.

In terms of the actual hearing, AIR+ 3 continues the sound tuning style of the Nordic texture. The mid-frequency performance is very stable, and it can perfectly cope with pop music or Hip-Pop songs. The quantity of vocal is more than that of AirPods Pro, and the sound is more beautiful. The low-frequency quantity is very sufficient, and it will sound more charming. The mid-high frequency also have good transparency.

    Conclusion

Libratone AIR+ 3rd GEN is a true wireless earphones with excellent noise cancellation capability, sound quality and design. Especially the multi-device one-key switching function, the experience is definitely industry-leading. If you have high requirements for appearance design, sound and multi-device experience, AIR+ 3rd GEN is definitely a good choice.
