TWISTURA D-MINOR review: Great hifi earbuds under $30

If you like to listen to pop vocal music, and mostly listen to male voices, and also care more about the atmosphere sense – compared to TWISTURA D-MAJOR, the $30 dollars of TWISTURA D-MINOR will not make you feel that the sound is downgraded, but is a better choice.

    Appearance Design & Comfort Fit

TWISTURA D-MINOR review: Great hifi earbuds under $30

TWISTURA D-MINOR largely continues the design language of D-MAJOR, but there are some differences in the material matching and color, so you can see the difference at a glance. The overall workmanship is still very exquisite, and the weight has also decreased. The color of D-MINOR has been fully turned to a combination of dark gray + black, which will be more integrated. The outermost layer of plastic of the rear cavity and the LOGO on the panel look basically integrated, and there is a certain degree of transparency so that you can see what is going on inside the cavity.

The front cavity is made of zinc alloy with a black matte texture and a certain ergonomic fit. When worn, the rear cavity floats on the auricle, and the stability is high enough for people with small auricles. The shape of the front cavity can achieve a high degree of fit. This cavity has a slight sense of falling, which is relatively comfortable, but due to the shape and thickness, it is not suitable for side-lying wear.

The cavity structure is similar to that of D-MAJOR, with three holes on the side, which can be understood as an independent acoustic cavity with holes embedded in the rear cavity. The air holes at the junction of the inner side of the cavity and the tuning filter are also retained, which making it relatively open and there is no problem with the air pressure balance in the cavity.

    Accessories & Headphone Cables

The accessories include a storage bag, two pairs of tuning filters, 6 pairs of silicone eartips, 3.5mm high-purity oxygen-free copper silver-plated cable and 3.5mm to Tpye-C adapter cable.

The specific information of the adapter cable is not clear, after connecting several devices, it can be confirmed that it is a headphone amplifier with USB DAC, not an analog adapter. The driving force is not strong, and for entry-level audiophiles, it can be directly plugged in and listened to. When paired with this earphones, the sound thickness is slightly lacking. In actual testing, it supports up to 384kHz/32bit Wave PCM decoding.

    Acoustic Configuration & Sound Description

TWISTURA D-MINOR review: Great hifi earbuds under $30

D-MINOR is equipped with a 10mm LCP dome composite diaphragm dual-magnetic dynamic driver, with an impedance of 30Ω and a sensitivity of 108dB/Vrms – this is a very easy-to-drive dynamic headphones. Even with the included adapter cable, it can be loud enough.

The low-frequency quantity is moderate, the thickness and fullness are sufficient, the elasticity is good, and the extension is a little smaller than that of D-MAJOR. The speed of retraction is moderate, and some reverberation is retained.

The thickness of the mid-frequency vocals is sufficient, the distance is slightly close, the transparency is moderate, and the mouth size is slightly larger than the standard state. The compatibility of male and female voices is similar – when listening to some particularly shrill female voices, the voice line will be a little thicker. While the smoothness is high, the graininess is also retained.

The high-frequency is transparent, bright, solid, and have good airiness and the ability to extend upwards. The ultra-high frequency and sharpness are somewhat weakened, but even if the tuning tube is replaced, it is still a smooth and non-aggressive expression.

The soundstage is moderate in size, and the space boundary has a certain sense of outline, which is more inclined to indoor recording and small-scale pop songs. The dynamics can have a good level of strong and weak sounds under the premise of proper drive. The separation between vocals and instruments is good, and the resolution ability exceeds the price expectation.

    Conclusion & Specs

Under the default tuning filter, TWISTURA D-MINOR is a relatively typical pop earphone. It performs well for pop music and RnB, but needs to be subdivided for J-Pop – some anisongs may need to replace the pop tuning filter to get a more suitable vocal state. Rock and metal music perform well. Blues and some electronic music that do not have extreme transient requirements can also have a good listening experience.
