    SoundPEATS POP Clip Review: Better than SoundPEATS PearlClip Pro?

    In a short time, SoundPEATS has released another of clip-on earphones – SoundPEATS POP Clip. Apart from the appearance design and wearing stability, how does it differ from the SoundPEATS PearlClip Pro? Which one is better?

    Appearance Design & Comfortable Fit

    The charging case features an almost oval design, compact and portable. The matte surface resists fingerprints and scratches. A status light on the front indicates bluetooth pairing, charging, and battery status. The right side of the case has a circular button, similar function to most competitors.

    The SoundPEATS POP Clip earphones ditches the waterdrop design of the SoundPEATS PearlClip Pro, resembling more the Huawei FreeClip. It places a small ball in your ear, with a larger square part behind it, connected by a C-shaped bridge.

    The POP Clip uses an open clip-on design, weighing about 4.73g per earphone – almost unnoticeable when worn. The earphones are made of liquid silicone, offering a smooth and non-slip touch. The SoundPEATS POP Clip is comfortable and stable, with minimal clamping force, making it ideal for glasses wearers.

    Its ergonomic air-arc design combines high-elasticity TPU material with A-grade nickel-titanium memory wire, adapting to different ear shapes without causing pressure, even during long-term wear (e.g., running, workout).

    Connection & App Support

    The SoundPEATS POP Clip uses Bluetooth 5.4 protocol, offering quick and stable connections, and can still provide reliable connection within 10 meters of the device without any connection or sound interruption.

    A highlight feature is the adaptive left-right ear technology: when placed in the charging case, the earphones automatically recognize and adjust the left and right channels, requiring no manual distinction. Opening the case connects in just 10 seconds.

    Also, the POP Clip supports multipoint connection, meaning you can connect it to two devices simultaneously and switch between them when receiving a call, or when pausing on one device and playing on the other.

    Through the PeatsAudio APP, you can unlock more features:

    • Personalized EQ adjustment: 10 preset sound effects, support for custom EQ;
    • Spatial sound: switch between movie, game, and normal modes for different scenarios;
    • Find Earbuds: track the earphones’ location via map and beeping;
    • Also includes dynamic EQ switch, key customization, and other functionalities.

    Calls & Gaming Mode

    SoundPEATS POP Clip Review: Better than SoundPEATS PearlClip Pro?

    SoundPEATS claims a 20% improvement in wind noise reduction with its C-shaped bidirectional airflow design. In reality, taking calls in not too noisy and windy conditions is feasible, though you may need to speak louder, but the sound is clear and natural.

    In outdoor cycling or windy environments, wind noise affects clarity and volume, reducing your voice output and making it sound distant – but for these open-ear earphones, I can’t expect too much.

    The SoundPEATS POP Clip plays videos without issues on both Android and iPhone. There’s lip-sync performance in video apps like TikTok, YouTube, and Apple TV.

    The POP Clip also has a low-latency game mode with latency as low as 80ms. There was a slight delay in Game for Peace, but it barely mattered. The sound is immersive, though there’s not much information about where gunshots and explosions are coming from.

    Battery Life & Controls

    The charging case has a 400mAh battery, and each earphone has a 45mAh battery. A single charge lasts up to 8 hours, 2 hours more than the SoundPEATS PearlClip Pro. The total battery life is about 30 hours, 6 hours more than the PearlClip Pro – a significant improvement. Additionally, 15 minutes of charging provides 3 hours of music playback.

    The POP Clip uses a physical button design to avoid accidental touches. The button feedback is clear and responsive – supporting play/pause (double-click), previous/next track (long press), volume control (single click), voice assistant activation (triple click), or game mode activation. Plus, the earphones have IPX5 water and sweat resistance.

    Sound Description & Sound Leakage

    The SoundPEATS POP Clip features a 10.8mm composite diaphragm dual-magnetic dynamic driver and dynamic EQ algorithm, supporting SBC and AAC codecs.

    The POP Clip excels in treble, sounding clearer, brighter, and more airiness, is easier to capture the details of the sound, offering a full and layered sound.

    However, it lacks the bass appeal of the SoundPEATS PearlClip Pro. The bass extension and elasticity are average, not as deep and impactful as the PearlClip Pro. The midrange vocals are delicate, clear, and natural, with good separation between instruments.

    The PearlClip Pro has fuller mid-bass and bass. They make the sound more balanced and lively – though the POP Clip’s sound is also balanced. Compared to the POP Clip, it sounds more natural and pleasant, while the POP Clip might feel a bit thin in comparison.

    There’s also a dynamic EQ mode that intelligently optimizes sound based on music genre: for example, enhancing drum beats in rock music and highlighting soundstage layers in classical music. The open spatial sound technology further enhances immersion, with the movie mode improving the 360° surround soundstage.

    In terms of sound leakage control, the SoundPEATS POP Clip uses directional sound transmission technology, reducing sound leakage through its C-shaped cavity structure. In a quiet environment with 50% volume, there’s almost no sound leakage at 1 meter. In noisy environments, you need to increase the volume, but sound leakage remains within acceptable limits.

    Conclusion & Specs

    Overall, the SoundPEATS POP Clip sounds better than most competitors in its price range – but I prefer the SoundPEATS PearlClip Pro – both in sound and appearance design.

    SoundPEATS POP Clip Specs and Features:
    • Bluetooth 5.4 with SBC/AAC codec
    • IPX5 waterproof rating (rain and sweat resistant)
    • 8 hours of playback on a single charge (AAC+55%VOL+Dynamic EQ off)
    • Approximately 30 hours of total battery life
    • 10.8mm dual-magnetic driver & Dynamic EQ algorithm
