Appearance Design – Comfort Fit – Battery Life

HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr Review: With Class A and B Balanced Amp and Topology Diaphragm Driver

The HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr earbuds and charging case have the same design and size as the HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless. The charging case is a 16-sided body with a matte touch surface. There is a physical button on the back.

The white cavity of Svanar Wireless Jr is made of PC material – thanks to the special production process, the actual texture is closer to ceramic. The inside of the earbud cavity adopts a silver glossy design.

HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr uses an ergonomic design and deliberately leaves a concave space for the auricle in the shape of the cavity. The earbuds fit the ears well and stay firmly on the ears. The weight distribution is balanced, there are no obvious stress points on the ears, and you will not get tired quickly if you wear it for a long time.

Unfortunately, as HiFi earphones, in order to provide enough space for the internal acoustic hardware, the overall size of Svanar Wireless Jr is relatively large, and it will have a certain presence in the ears. Users switching from regular TWS earbuds will need some time to adapt.

The battery capacity of the charging case is 500mAh and the earbud is 85mAh. The battery life in HiFi mode is up to 6 hours, and the battery life in ANC mode is about 7 hours. The battery life in transparency mode is up to 8 hours, and the comprehensive battery life is about 32 hours.

    Connection – Controls

HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr Review: With Class A and B Balanced Amp and Topology Diaphragm Driver

The earbuds uses Bluetooth 5.2 technology and supports SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs. When connecting for the first time, simply select “HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr” in your phone’s bluetooth device list for a quick connection. When using it again, open the case lid to connect the successfully paired bluetooth device.

In terms of control, Svanar Wireless Jr uses touch control scheme. The touch operation area is located outside the earbud cavity and can recognize single-tap, double-tap, triple-tap and long-press operations. Includes play/pause, track switch, answer/reject calls and mode switch (ANC/Transparency/HiFi).

The response of the control is very sensitive, and when touched, the earbuds will have a clear “Di” sound. There will also be voice prompts when mode switching and bluetooth connection.

ANC Noise Cancellation (ANC) – Calls

HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr Review: With Class A and B Balanced Amp and Topology Diaphragm Driver

HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr supports Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and ENC call noise cancellation, with the noise cancellation depth of 35dB. After turning on the ANC mode, most of the noise can be blocked.

For example, mid- and low-frequency noise such as air conditioning sound, tire noise, and engine sound can be reduced by about 80%, and it also has a certain effect on high-frequency noise. In terms of irregular noise, the M size silicone eartips also bring good passive noise reduction effects, which can help weaken external “noise attacks”.

It is worth mentioning that since the sound pickup hole is located at the top of the earbud cavity, Svanar Wireless Jr can only slightly feel the impact of wind noise during typhoon weather. When making voice calls at stations or public transportation, the other party can still hear clear voices.

    Acoustic Configuration and Sound Description

HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr inherits the characteristics of Class A and B balanced headphone amp and 9mm topological diaphragm driver, pursuing warm, sweet and natural sound in terms of listening experience.

In terms of acoustic architecture, Svanar Wireless Jr’s acoustic system will first obtain high-definition bluetooth signals from the LDAC protocol (if the mobile phone support it), optimize it with DSP algorithms, transmit it to an independent headphone amplifier module, and finally present it to the ear via the topological diaphragm driver.

The bass quantity and impact performance are very outstanding, and the overall timbre brought by rich details and layering is relatively balanced. The bass extension is deep, the rebound is rapid, and the atmosphere of large dynamic scenes is well interpreted.

The mids vocals are warm, full, soft and delicate. The vocal lines are full but not excessive, and the soundstage distance is appropriate without any sense of oppression. Plus, the vocals have good ductility.

The treble is transparent without being harsh, bright without glitches, and the details and micro-dynamic performance are relatively outstanding. HIFIMAN SVANAR Wireless Jr emphasizes the overtone performance after appropriate extension, so that the tone is not too dark and the listenability is increased.

Overall, Svanar Wireless Jr continues the consistent characteristics of HIFIMAN headphones, tri-frequency balance, delicate and rich details, the resolution and separation are very high, and the tension and appeal of the music are also well reflected.

Additionally, I also conducted listening tests on my iPhone. The iOS devices currently do not support LDAC codec, and the earbuds will work in AAC state. When listening to lossless sound quality in the Apple Music App, the AAC codec does experience slight degradation, but the overall hearing is still good.

    Conclusion

As a new product in the Svanar series, HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless Jr inherits the characteristics of Class A and B balanced headphone amp and topological diaphragm in terms of acoustic configuration. Via a unique drive unit, it presents users with a classic, retro, and warm listening experience.
