Appearance Design – Comfort Fit  – Battery Life

The charging case feels very soft in the hand, the matte surface feels smooth, and its compact size can be easily put into a trouser pocket. There is only a white light strip on the front, and there is a USB-C charging port and a physical button at the bottom. The magnetic lid has a good damping feel when opening and a crisp sound when closing.

Redmi Buds 5 Pro earbuds adopt an ergonomic design, the overall workmanship is round and smooth, and fit the ears. The surface on the inside of the earbuds has no edges and corners, the stem is short, and the overall size is compact.

The back of the earbuds is a strip-shaped touch component – the touch component adopts an overlapping and progressive surface treatment idea. A layer of transparent glossy material is added to the center of the matte matte textured back panel, which greatly enhances the visual layering of the earbuds. Plus, Redmi Buds 5 Pro supports IP54 dustproof and waterproof.

The earbud isa very light (only 5g), and the sealing is very good, without any foreign body feeling. There was no displacement or discomfort when talking or eating, and there was no swelling after wearing it for two hours. No loosening occurred during light exercise such as walking up and down stairs and jogging.

Connection – Gaming Mode – Battery Life

The earbuds uses Bluetooth 5.3 technology and supports SBC, AAC and LHDC codec. When connecting for the first time, you need to select “Redmi Buds 5 Pro” in the bluetooth device list of your phone to quickly connect. When using it again, open the lid to connect the successfully paired bluetooth device. In an environment without obstacles, the connection will be disconnected if it is more than 10 meters away from the mobile phone, and the connection will be automatically restored after returning to the communication range.

Also, Redmi Buds 5 Pro support multipoint connection and can connect mobile phone and computer at the same time.

The Buds 5 Pro support low-latency mode with the latency as low as 49ms. Playing games and watching videos is no problem – it works flawlessly on both Android and iPhone with perfect sound and picture sync. The only disadvantage is that it needs to be used with the Redmi K70 series mobile phone and turn on the low-power bluetooth mode (LC3 encoding) in the bluetooth settings.

The single battery life after turning off ANC mode is up to 10 hours, and the total battery life is up to 38 hours. The battery life after turning on ANC mode is about 6.5 hours. In addition, the Buds 5 Pro also support fast charging, which can provide 2 hours of playback after 5 minutes of charging.

ANC Mode – Transparency Mode – Calls

Redmi Buds 5 Pro comprehensively upgrades the noise cancellation function. Not only does it have a 52dB noise cancellation depth, it also doubles the noise cancellation frequency to a maximum of 4kHz – a 50% increase compared to Redmi Buds 4 Pro.

Buds 5 Pro support 3 tpyes of noise cancellation modes and adaptive noise cancellation. The transparency mode also supports three modes: Vocal Enhancement, Transparency Mode, and Ambient Enhancement.

In the actual test, the ANC function of the earbuds has an obvious effect – combined with the passive noise cancellation advantages of in-ear earbuds, the overall noise cancellation effect is excellent, and can effectively block air conditioning noise, keyboard sound, subway driving noise, etc. At the same time, the vocal enhancement mode can also meet the needs of listening to music + chatting.

In terms of call noise cancellation, Redmi Buds 5 Pro support 3-MIC Al noise cancellation – structural design with smart anti-wind noise algorithm, which can provide a high-definition call experience even at 9m/s wind speed.

Sound Description of Redmi Buds 5 Pro

Redmi Buds 5 Pro earbuds use a coaxial dual-unit architecture – the coaxial design ensures soundstage matching of the dual units. The 11mm titanium-plated dynamic driver provide solid hearing. The 10mm piezoelectric ceramic tweeter has the characteristics of high stiffness, sensitive response, and strong high-frequency ductility – it can widen the high-frequency response range to 40kHz, bringing pure, delicate, and layered treble performance.

The high-frequency is clear without harsh, the mid-frequency is rich and elastic, and the low-frequency has sufficient quantity and depth to create a good stereo sound. The sound performance is layered, not blurry, and has the atmosphere of a large soundstage.

Redmi Buds 5 Pro support the LHDC 5.0 audio protocol, was tuned by Xiaomi Audio Lab, and has obtained Hi-Res Wireless certification. Moreover, the Buds 5 Pro can also perform “ear canal calibration” for different users and customize personalized tuning curves to bring a more suitable personal listening experience.

Also, Redmi Buds 5 Pro supports both spatial audio for music and game, bringing a stronger sense of immersion.

    Conclusion

Redmi Buds 5 Pro adopts a coaxial dual-unit architecture, which effectively improves the sound performance. The active noise cancellation depth reaches 52dB and the width reaches 4kHz – quite excellent. Plus, the 3-MIC AI call anti-wind noise technology is also very practical.
