    Baseus Bowie M3 is Baseus’ first semi-in-ear ANC earbuds – equipped with an adaptive noise cancellation algorithm, it automatically detects the ear canal structure and wearing status every time it is worn, and intelligently matches the appropriate noise cancellation depth to balance ear pressure and noise, achieving the comfortable noise cancellation effect. It supports 6-MIC call noise cancellation function and is equipped with AI anti-wind noise algorithm to ensure call quality in various scenarios.

    Baseus Bowie M3 Earbuds

    Baseus Bowie M3 is equipped with a 12mm bio-diaphragm speaker, which provides excellent low-frequency layering and dynamic changes. Supports spatial sound effects, which can create a more immersive stereo soundstage. Supports Bluetooth 5.3 and dual device connection. Supports Baseus dual-channel low-latency technology, with the latency as low as 60ms. The earbuds has a single battery life of up to 6.5 hours, and the total battery life of about 30 hours. Supports wireless charging and Baseus rapid charge, providing a convenient and fast charging experience.

Let’s take a look at the detailed teardown report of Baseus M3.


    01/ Baseus Bowie M3 Charging Case Teardown

    Pry open the charging case and take out the charging bin structure.

    The structure on the back of the charging bin is fixed with a wireless charging receiving coil.

    The motherboard unit is fixed with screws at the bottom of the charging bin.

    Remove the screws and take out the motherboard and wireless charging receiving coil.

    There is a battery fixed inside the charging bin for better protection.

    Take out the battery and disassemble the charging case internally – including the motherboard, battery, wireless charging receiving coil and Hall element FPC.

    The wireless charging receiving coil is fixed on the magnetic shielding sticker.

    ZIF connector for connecting the ribbon cable.

    INJOINIC IP5333 multi-function power management SoC integrates functions such as boost converter, lithium battery charging management, battery power indication and TYPE-C protocol, providing a complete solution for TWS charging case. IP5333 is very suitable for intelligent two-way communication applications that are gradually increasing in demand, and can provide open-cover connection functions. At the same time, taking out and putting the earphones in can provide LED light reminders, giving users intuitive feedback.

    IP5333 only needs one inductor to realize charging and boosting functions. Can support low-cost inductors and capacitors. The IP5333’s synchronous boost system provides a rated output current of 1A and a conversion efficiency as high as 92%. At light load, it automatically enters sleep state and the quiescent current drops to less than 20uA. IP5333 uses switching charging technology to provide a rated 1A charging current and a charging efficiency as high as 91%.

    IP5333 has built-in IC temperature protection and input voltage to intelligently adjust charging current. IP5333 has built-in 12bitADC, which can accurately measure battery voltage and current. Supports 1/2/3/4 LED power display. The high integration and rich functions of IP5333 require only a few peripheral components for application, effectively reducing the size of the overall solution and reducing the BOM cost.

    Prisemi P14C1S overvoltage and overcurrent protection IC has an input voltage of up to 32V and a fixed overvoltage protection point of 6V. The overcurrent protection point can be set through external resistors, with a minimum accuracy of 10mA. Moreover, the overcurrent protection response time can be adjusted through the cooperation of capacitor components, which can meet the overcurrent protection requirements of various adapters and various projects.

    NuVolta NU1680C wireless charging receiver chip is a highly integrated wireless power receiver. Integrating a synchronous rectifier eliminates the need for bootstrap capacitors and features high efficiency and low cost. The output voltage can be adjusted to track the battery voltage, further reducing the power consumption of the charging system.

    NU1680C can communicate with the transmitter system through ASK, and the communication complies with WPC V1.2.4. FOD parameters can be configured via external resistors to pass FOD testing. NU1680C also supports standard protection functions such as over-current protection, short-circuit protection, over-voltage protection and thermal shutdown, further improving the reliability of the system solution.

    The charging case connects the metal dome connector for charging the earbud.

    Two LED lights of different colors are used to feedback bluetooth pairing status.

    Hall element FPC circuit.

    The hall element of silk screen HXBj is used to sense the magnetic field changes when the charging case is turned on/off, and then notify the charging case MCU and earbuds to pair or disconnect with the connected device.

    The charging case has a built-in lithium-ion battery, model: WEL 602035, nominal voltage: 3.7V, rated capacity: 400mAh 1.48Wh, production date: July 21, 2023.

    The battery protection board circuit is equipped with a lithium battery protection IC and MOS tube, as well as a thermistor for detecting battery temperature.

    Silk screen DW01AT lithium battery protection IC is used for battery overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, etc. protection.

    02/ Baseus Bowie M3 Earbuds Teardown

    Remove the earbud stem back cover.

    The cover is equipped with a bluetooth antenna, a touch detection piece, a call microphone acoustic structure and an indicator light guide column.

    The motherboard structure inside the earbud cavity, the left end is connected to the FPC of the internal components of the earbud head through the BTB connector.

    Unhook the connector and take out the motherboard.

    The internal structure of the earbud stem has a magnetic shielding sticker on the magnet to prevent interference. On the far right is the metal connector connecting the charging case and earbud.

    Connect to the BTB connector of the FPC. According to 52audio, it comes from OCN, model: OK-118RF010/2-35.

    The MEMS microphone of Lasdiao R327 A51D is a feed-forward noise cancellation microphone, used to pick up external environmental noise, from RAYKING.

    Metal dome for connecting bluetooth antenna and touch detection chip.

    A 24.0Mhz crystal oscillator is used to provide the clock.

    LED indicator light for feedback earbud charging status.

    The metal dome is connected to the charging metal module.

    Another laser-engraved R327 A51D call MEMS microphone is used to pick up human voices during voice calls.

    Bluetrum BT8951H bluetooth audio SoC, QFN40 4*6 package. Built-in high-performance 32-bit RISC-V processor core and HIFI 4 DSP, RISC-V includes a floating point unit (FPU). Supports floating point operations, RISC-V has a maximum speed of 125MHz, and HIFI 4 has a maximum speed of 270MHz. Internal 16Mbit flash memory, 892KB RAM. Flexible GPIO pins with programmable pull-up and pull-down resistors, supporting GPIO wake-up or interrupt.

    BT8951H complies with Bluetooth 5.4 and BLE specifications, supports LE audio BIS/CIS, TX output power typical value is +8dBm, RX sensitivity is -94.5dBm @EDR/ -95.5dBm @1M BLE/-93dBm @2M BLE. Audio codec with 24-bit stereo DAC and 24-bit ADC, supporting flexible audio equalizer adjustment. Supports 3-channel MIC amplifier input. Integrated voltage reduction and lithium battery charging functions.

    WINSEMI WSDF13F2N2H lithium battery protection IC is a highly integrated solution for single-cell lithium-ion/lithium polymer rechargeable battery pack protection. Available in a very small DFN4L-1×1 package. Integrated power MOSFET, high-precision voltage detection circuit and delay circuit – it has all the protection functions required by the battery such as overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit, etc., and the power consumption during operation is very low.

    Open the earbud cavity and take out the battery inside the back cavity.

    Built-in steel shell button battery, wrapped by high-temperature insulating tape.

    Tear off the insulation protection, and the battery positive pole is engraved with product information – model: M1040S2, nominal voltage: 3.85V, energy: 0.135Wh, from MIC-POWER. The battery negative pole is engraved with a QR code for product traceability.

    The bottom structure of the rear cavity, FPC is connected to the motherboard inside the earbud stem. There is also a magnet on the cavity wall, which works with the magnet in the earbud stem to achieve stable adsorption and fixation with the charging case.

    Take out the speaker, and connect the in-ear detection sensor and feed-back noise cancellation microphone to the end of the FPC.

    Take out all the components inside the front cavity.

    The BTB connector that connects the FPC to the motherboard is from OCN, model number: OK-118RM010/2-35.

    FPC circuit – Capacitive in-ear detection sensors are set on both sides to realize the function of automatically pausing music playback when taking off the headphones and automatically resuming playback after wearing them.

    The MEMS microphone of the laser carving R119 A51D is a feed-back noise cancellation microphone, used to pick up noise from inside the ear canal, from RAYKING.

    The front of the speaker uses a wool bio-diaphragm, which is thin, flexible and elastic.

    The back of the speaker is soldered to the FPC. There are tuning holes on the edge and are covered with a tuning net.

    After actual measurement, the speaker size is about 12mm.

    03/ Summary

    Baseus Bowie M3 charging case adopts an open charging bin structure. The earbuds adopt a handle-shaped semi-in-ear design, weighing about 4.4g individually, and have a comfortable wearing experience.

    The charging case has a built-in 400mAh and supports both wired and wireless charging methods. The wired uses INJOINIC IP5333 multi-function power management SoC, which integrates boost converter, lithium battery charging management, battery power indication and TYPE-C protocol and other functions, and supports 1A charging and discharging. The wireless uses NuVolta NU1680C wireless charging receiving chip, which has the characteristics of high efficiency and low cost. Prisemi P14C1S overvoltage and overcurrent protection IC is also used.

    The earbud is equipped with a 12mm wool bio-diaphragm dynamic driver and three MEMS microphones for call + feedforward + feedback pickup. Built-in 0.135Wh steel case button battery, equipped with WINSEMI WSDF13F2N2H lithium battery protection IC for charging protection. The main control chip is Bluetrum BT8951H bluetooth audio SoC, which has a built-in high-performance 32-bit RISC-V processor core and HIFI 4 DSP. Supports Bluetooth 5.4 and BLE specifications. Supports flexible audio equalizer adjustment, 3-channel MIC amplifier input, and integrated lithium battery charging function.
