RedMagic 8S Pro+ Review: Latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Processor with 3.36GHz CPU Frequency

RedMagic 8S Pro+ uses a 6.8-inch AMOLED flexible straight screen with a screen-to-body ratio of 93.7%. There is almost no color difference between the camera under the screen and the surrounding area, bringing players a more immersive experience. This screen has a resolution of 2480×1116 and 120Hz refresh rate, supports 10Bit color depth and 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, and meets the demanding requirements of professional e-sports players for display effects. At the same time, it also adopts 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, which is more eye-friendly.

RedMagic 8S Pro+ offers three color options – Midnight=Black Version, Platinum=Silver Version, Aurora=Transparent Black Version. The transparent black version uses a high-strength transparent glass back panel, you can clearly see the internal characters, screws, and the pattern of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The active cooling fan gives people a visual sense of a spaceship engine, and the overall design is very sci-fi.

The thickness of the phone is 8.9mm, and the weight reaches 230g – although it is not light and thin, but the weight distribution is balanced. The aviation aluminum alloy middle frame is finely polished, and the edge forms a rounded arc with the screen and back cover, which makes the RedMagic 8S Pro+ have a good grip. In addition, the mobile phone also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack, allowing players to get a better audio and picture synchronization experience.

    Processor – Game Testing

RedMagic 8S Pro+ is equipped with the most powerful processor in Android phones – the 2-generation Snapdragon 8 Advanced Version. Compared with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the CPU main frequency of the Advanced Version has been increased to 3.36GHz, the performance and energy consumption of the CPU and GPU have increased.

The storage of the highest configuration version reaches 24GB+1TB (launched later), which is enough to meet the performance requirements of large-scale games.

Under the room temperature environment of 25°C and the image quality setting of 60 frames, the 30-minute “Genshin Impact” test – the frame rate can be stabilized at 60 frames when fighting in the field scene. There is almost no frame rate fluctuation except for situations such as switching scenes.

During the game, the temperature control of 8S Pro+ is also very good. The highest temperature is at the air outlets on both sides, with the temperature of 39.4°C.

    Battery and Camera: 50MP+8MP+2MP

RedMagic 8S Pro+ not only has outstanding gaming performance, but also has improved photography capabilities. The 8S Pro+ is equipped with a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor main camera, an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro camera. Daytime photos are rich in detail and full in color.

The photos at night are also very delicate. Not only are the colors full and real, the noise control is excellent, and the details in dark light are also good – but the glare control needs to be improved.
