Redmi Note 12 Turbo review: The first smartphone equipped with the 2nd-generation Snapdragon 7+ processor

When it comes to the Redmi Note series, everyone’s first impression is the nickname “Little King Kong”. It has good protection and is very cost-effective in mid-low-end products, but it does not have high expectations in performance. However, with the release of Redmi Note 12 Turbo equipped with the 2nd-generation Snapdragon 7+ mobile platform, “Little King Kong” is also impressive in performance.

    Redmi Note 12 Turbo Specs:
    • 6.67-inch flexible OLED screen
    • 2400*1080+120Hz refresh rate
    • 2nd-generation Snapdragon 7+ processor
    • 5000mAh battery+67W fast charge
    • 64MP+8MP+2MP (rear camera)

    Appearance Design and Display

On the front of the mobile phone is the 6.67 -inch flexible OLED direct screen. On the surface, the 2.5D 5th-generation Corning Gorilla Glass has a resolution of 2400*1080. Support the 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, the peak brightness can reach 1000nit. The screen also supports 1920Hz PWM lighting, and the screen flash sensitive users do not need to worry too much.

The black frames around the screen are very narrow, especially the left and right borders are only 1.42mm, and the visual perception is quite good. However, the mobile phone does not use a screen fingerprint unlocking solution, only supports the side fingerprint unlocking function.

The mobile phone is designed with a screenless bracket and a right-angle frame, and the thickness only 7.9mm. The 3.5mm headphone interface is still retained on the top of the fuselage. The weight of Redmi Note 12 Turbo is only 181g, so the hand-held feel is very comfortable.

    Performance – Game Testing

The biggest highlight of Redmi Note 12 Turbo is the 2nd-generation Snapdragon 7+ processor. This SOC architecture has a very great improvement compared to the first generation of Snapdragon 7 – CPU’s main frequency can reach 2.91GHz. The single-core score of GeekBench 6 is 1587, and the multi-core is 4182. Antutu’s running score is 973991, 20 rounds of Wild Life Stress Test pressure test shows that its stability is 99.7% – this new SOC energy efficiency is pretty good.

In the 30 minutes “Genshin Impact” game testing, the average frame rate of Redmi Note 12 Turbo reached 57.98 frames. Although the frame rate fluctuates during the game, being able to run “Genshin Impact” smoothly is already a huge improvement for mid-end smartphones.

    Battery Life – Photography

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo has built-in 5000mAh battery that support 67W wired charging. The battery and charging specifications seem quite satisfactory, but combined with the excellent energy consumption performance of the 2nd-generation Snapdragon 7+, the battery life pressure of this phone will not be too high. The phone can be fully charged in 45 minutes.

In terms of camera configuration, Redmi Note 12 Turbo adopts a rear triple-camera solution. The main camera is 64MP and support OIS optical image stabilization. Combined with AI image algorithm, it can also provide good photo performance. Note 12 Turbo also support In-sensor Zoom technology, using 64MP to achieve 2X lossless zoom. Compared with conventional digital zoom, more details can be preserved and the image is clearer.

The other two cameras are an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens. The front camera is a 16MP selfie camera.

    Conclusion

It can be said that with the blessing of the 2nd-generation Snapdragon 7+ processor, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo has achieved an experience similar to that of a flagship smartphone in terms of performance. High performance and cost-effective, now you don’t need to do multiple choice questions – this “Little King Kong” can meet your needs right now.
