Redmi K60 review: A new generation of Xiaomi all-round phone with screen, battery life and performance

In the first half of this year, Redmi K50 became a popular smartphone in the Android mobile phone market in the first half of the year due to its ultra-high screen display quality and the excellent energy efficiency ratio of Dimensity 8100. At the end of the year, the K60 series was also officially unveiled. Whether the latest Redmi K60 can continue the success of Redmi K50, this time we will experience this phone.

    Redmi K60 specs and features:
    • 120Hz 6.67″ OLED screen
    • 3200*1440 resolution
    • 64MP+8MP+2MP
    • 5500mAh+67W charge
    • Support 30W wireless charging
    • $385 – Check latest price on AliExpress (K60), AliExpress (K60 Pro)

    Appearance Design & Display

The Redmi K60 offers four styles this time, and the one I experienced on hands-on is the white version made of glass. The texture is similar to ceramic, very smooth. The overall weight of the phone is about 204g. The middle frame of the mobile phone is made of matte metal, and the edge area adopts CNC technology. The area on the back near the middle frame has been narrowed to a certain extent, and the connection between the screen and the middle frame is more natural. The thickness of the fuselage is only 8.59mm, and the hand feel is good when holding and using, and you will not feel tired after long-term use.

The front of the fuselage still continues the OLED flexible straight screen solution with a hole in the middle. The screen size is 6.67 inches, with a resolution of 3200*1440, supports a high refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 480Hz, and a local peak brightness of 1400 nits. The screen adopts a diamond-like arrangement layout and supports 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, so the screen display quality is still very good. In addition, due to the straight screen design, it is more convenient for the Redmi K60 to attach a tempered film to the screen than a curved screen phone.

    Hardware Configuration & Game Testing

The processor on the Redmi K60 is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. It is a pity that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is not used, so if you want better performance, you should choose the Redmi K60 Pro. However, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is still not bad. The AnTuTu score reached 1078956, the single-core score of GeekBench 5 was 1270, and the multi-core score was 3999.But the most surprising thing is that the stability of the 20-round Wild Life Stress Test stress test has achieved a score of 99.2%. This should be due to the VC heat dissipation material inside the phone, and Redmi officially stated that the heat dissipation area has reached 5000mm². It seems that if you play “Genshin Impact”, you may be able to maintain a high frame rate game without lowering the frame rate and screen brightness.

This is indeed the case when tested in an indoor environment of 25°C. The 30-minute “Genshin Impact” game test resulted in an average frame rate of 57fps. The maximum temperature of the body is 45.9°C, and the temperature on the back of the phone near the camera is 38.7°C.

At present, when playing the “Honor of King” game on Redmi K60, it is not yet possible to run the ultimate picture quality and 120fps at the same time. In the second-class picture quality, the average frame rate of the 15-minute game is 119fps, with little fluctuation.

    Battery & Charging

Redmi K60 has a built-in 5500mAh battery, and this battery capacity can still control the 2K-120Hz screen display very well. If the use intensity is slightly higher, there is no need to worry too much about the problem of insufficient battery life. In terms of charging, wired charging supports 67W power output, which is consistent with the Redmi K50.

However, the biggest highlight of this charging specification is that the phone supports 30W wireless charging. Although 30W wireless charging is not very high, considering that the application of wireless charging is mainly in office and other usage scenarios. The charging power of 30W can already meet the needs of many users in this kind of application environment, and the experience of direct charging without data cables is still very necessary.

    Photography & Other Configurations

The Redmi K series has never been dominated by photography configurations, and the same is true for the Redmi K60. However, the layout of the rear three cameras is a bit novel, showing a vertical arrangement. The top camera is the main camera with an aperture of f/1.9 and can capture 64-megapixel images with OIS optical image stabilization. The camera in the middle is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Although there is a square camera at the bottom, it is not a periscope telephoto lens, but a 2-megapixel macro camera.

From the proofs above, we can see that in a well-lit shooting environment, the proofs of the main camera perform pretty well. In the night scene mode, the details of various light boxes are also restored in place, but the color performance is somewhat lacklustre. At the same time, the shadow area will be darker, which can only be said to be a level that can be used.

Whenever you see that the ultra-wide-angle camera has only 8 million pixels, you should understand that the imaging quality of this camera is average. It’s only recommended when you can’t capture everything with the main camera by stepping back. In addition, the 2-megapixel macro camera is barely adequate.

As can be seen from the proofs, for users with low image requirements, the Redmi K60’s rear three-camera configuration is also sufficient.

In terms of other configurations, the Redmi K60 is also equipped with 1012+1016 dual stereo speakers, so it has surround sound quality. In addition, the system also uses the MIUI 14 OS. As far as the mobile phone experience is concerned, the native APP can indeed be streamlined.

    Conclusion

After the actual hands-on experience, we can summarize the main features of Redmi K60. The first is a high-spec direct screen with 2K resolution. Users who care about the screen display effect should be satisfied with its performance. In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 can still be used, and it is still capable of playing games such as “Genshin Impact”, and the heat dissipation performance is also surprising. In addition, supporting wireless charging also makes up for a disadvantage of the Redmi series.

If you don’t particularly care about the photography of your mobile phone, but want a high-performance mobile phone with high cost performance, Redmi K60 is very suitable for you.
