    Motorola moto X30 Pro

The Motorola Moto X30 Pro (Moto Edge 30 Ultra) has really changed a lot in terms of photography. The 1/1.22″ CMOS of this 200MP main camera is quite amazing, and the default option of 50 million pixels under 200 million pixels also makes high pixels really popular on mobile phones.

The subdivision of portrait focal lengths also facilitates the creation of portrait photography. However, further efforts are needed to optimize the night scene function. If you have a high demand for the camera function of your mobile phone, prefer high-pixel details, or often shoot portraits, then the moto X30 Pro, the flagship photography phone, will give you everything you want.

    01/ Appearance Design & Display

    Motorola moto X30 Pro

The screen of the moto X30 Pro uses a 6.7-inch flexible OLED screen with a resolution of 2400×1080. In terms of color, it supports 10bit color depth, HDR10+ and 100% DCI-P3, and the display effect is still relatively good. At the same time, this screen supports a high refresh rate of 144Hz, which will provide a smoother experience when using games and information streaming apps. In response to the flickering screen problem when using mobile phones in dark light, this screen of moto X30 Pro also supports full DC dimming, which can better protect eyesight.

The appearance of the moto X30 Pro adopts a dual micro-curved design. Through the CNC integrated molding process of glass and metal, a unique suspension integration effect is created, and the design of the micro-curved surface also makes the mobile phone feel thinner in the grip. The weight of the mobile phone is 198.5g and the thickness is 8.39mm, and the overall weight distribution is relatively uniform.

    Motorola moto X30 Pro

On the back design, the lens module of the moto X30 Pro adopts a floating integrated design. The 200MP lens module does not have a particularly exaggerated design, and the look and feel is very harmonious. Through the small-area lens module design, the visual separation caused by the protrusion of the lens module is well avoided, making the entire back design more harmonious and beautiful.

The color of the back of the fuselage is mainly white, and the velvet AG glass back cover ensures that it is not easy to get fingerprints when using bare metal. The middle is still Motorola’s traditional M letter logo, and the bottom area has the words Motorola. The rear camera module is located in the upper left corner, the outer frame of the module is a metal structure, and the rear three cameras are arranged in a triangle. The size of the main camera looks very large, and the size and pixel size of the main camera are also printed on the metal frame, 1/1.22 inches, 200 million pixels and with OIS optical image stabilization.

The middle frame area of the mobile phone has also been narrowed in curvature. The material of the metal middle frame also enhances the overall texture of this flagship phone. The lock screen key and volume keys are located in the middle frame area on the right. In addition, the phone also uses a stereo dual-speaker solution, and the “Dolby Atmos” on the top of the fuselage means that the phone supports Dolby Atmos.

    02/ Photography

Motorola moto X30 Pro review: 200 million pixels optical anti-shake main camera

The moto X30 Pro uses a rear triple-camera combination. The main camera uses a Samsung 200 million pixels sensor, and the CMOS size is 1/1.22 inches. It has three modes of full pixel output, four pixels in one and sixteen pixels in one. At the same time, the main camera of the moto X30 Pro adopts a double coating structure, which can prevent ghosting and other situations during the shooting process.

The moto X30 Pro adds a high-quality mode by default in the photo mode. When the camera AI detects that the current shooting environment is well lit, it directly starts the high-quality mode for 50MP direct shooting. After four-in-one pixel merging, it also has the characteristics of large pixels, and the image quality is still quite delicate. When zooming in to see the picture, even some small fonts are clearly visible, and there is no trace of sharpening. When the camera system detects that the ambient light is weak, the default 16-in-1 output is 12 million pixels.

200MP main camera regular shooting proofs

By turning on “Super Quality”, you can achieve 200 million pixel photo shooting. From the actual shooting experience, due to the larger pixel shooting calculation processing, the moto X30 Pro needs a period of calculation to use 200MP shooting, which is more suitable for some static shooting scenes. Judging from the actual photos taken, the larger pixel lens brings more picture details, especially after zooming in, the details are more delicate.

But the 200 million pixel picture is indeed not low in capacity. The file size of a 200 million pixel image is about 50MB, and a 50 million pixel image is about 20MB. If you are more sensitive to the storage capacity of your mobile phone, you can shoot 50 million pixel pictures if you want to shoot high-quality images. Of course, if they are compressed into small pictures, there is basically no difference between the two.

    Night mode of main camera

Motorola moto X30 Pro review: 200 million pixels optical anti-shake main camera

    Night shot proofs

In the night shooting scene, this main camera outputs 12 million pixels in a 16-in-1 pixel binning mode. After upgrading to the latest system version, the night scene shot in the default mode will automatically add the HDR algorithm. However, there is still some room for improvement in the highlight suppression effect in some scenes, which needs to be further improved. Of course, the effect of the normal operation of the night shooting function is quite good.

Ultra Wide Angle Lens & Telephoto Lens

The ultra-wide-angle sub-camera is 50 million pixels and integrates the macro function. The ultra-wide-angle lens supports 2.5cm macro photography and 1.28μm four-pixel integration. However, this sub-camera can only be turned on in super quality if you want to shoot high pixels. The default shooting is a four-in-one 12.5 million pixel, and the overall picture quality performance is not bad, and it supports night shooting mode.

The telephoto sub-camera is 12 million pixels, with ƒ/1.6 aperture and 1.22μm single-pixel size, and supports 2x optical zoom. I think the zoom range of the telephoto lens is actually too small. After all, the 200MP main camera crop can basically meet the needs of 2x zoom. If you switch to 3-3.8x optical zoom telephoto, you can achieve a higher zoom range.

    Portrait Mode

Motorola has also added a portrait mode to the phone’s camera system. In this mode, a background blur algorithm will be added, and the three equivalent focal lengths are 35mm, 50mm and 85mm. The 35mm focal length is suitable for humanistic and environmental portraits. The 50mm focal length is a classic portrait focal length, and the most cost-effective fixed focal lengths of camera manufacturers are often derived from this focal length. The 85mm focal length is good at single close-up portraits. Considering that the main point of mobile phone photography is convenience and the function of quickly switching the golden focal length, the moto X30 Pro can further improve the user’s shooting efficiency and film output rate.

    Front Camera

The front punch hole camera is 60 million pixels. However, for friends who like to take selfies, they naturally do not want to show fine pore details on the skin texture. Therefore, the camera system in the default mode is also recommended to use 15 million pixels.

    03/ Performance & Gaming Test

The moto X30 Pro is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8+ processor, which has a very significant upgrade in experience compared to the previous generation of Snapdragon 8. In terms of parameters, with a single super-large core X2, three large-core A710s and four small-core A510s, the Cortex-X2 large core frequency has been increased to 3.2GHz, which is a significant improvement compared to the previous generation. In particular, there has been a significant improvement in the fever problem that the Snapdragon 8 has been criticized for. Moreover, for heat dissipation, the moto X30 Pro adopts an 11-dimensional circulating three-dimensional heat dissipation structure, and at the same time, a dedicated heat dissipation copper block is added for the core components such as the processor, combined with a large-area heat dissipation network to achieve rapid cooling.

The running scores of AnTuTu and GeekBench 5 are in line with the normal performance of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. However, 3D Mark’s 20-round stress test results are worrying, and the stability is less than 70%, which is also worried about the performance of its mobile games.

In the 30-minute “Genshin Impact” environment test with the full frame rate effect of the “Genshin Impact”, the frame rate of the fighting scene in the first 10 minutes fluctuated, occasionally dropping to about 43 frames. However, the performance of the test in the last 20 minutes was not satisfactory, and the frame rate fluctuated significantly. It seems that in the follow-up Motorola can focus on tackling 200 million main cameras while also strengthening the tuning of the game.

In addition, in terms of temperature control performance, under the environment of room temperature of 26 °C, through the test every 5 minutes, the maximum temperature is 43.8 °C. The temperature is mainly concentrated on the top of the back camera, and the performance is relatively good.

    04/ Battery Life & Charging

The moto X30 Pro also brings a very good configuration in terms of battery life. Its battery capacity is 4610mAh and it is equipped with a 125W charger. The charging cable adopts a dual Type-C interface design, and the maximum output of the public protocol is 100W. It is actually measured that at a room temperature of 26 °C, it can charge 36% in 5 minutes, and it can be fully charged in just 17 minutes.

The moto X30 Pro also supports 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging. Using the moto vertical wireless charger test released this time, it takes 15 minutes to charge 31%, and it takes 54 minutes to fully charge, which is faster than the wired charging speed of many mobile phones.

    05/ System

Motorola moto X30 Pro review: 200 million pixels optical anti-shake main camera

The moto X30 Pro is equipped with myui 4.0 OS based on Android 12, which introduces a new concept of “intuitive interaction”, and there are many practical operations in the experience. First of all, in the game scene, a new game mode has been added. Swipe out the game sidebar for more operations during gameplay.

In life scenarios, many shortcut operations can be achieved through shortcut keys. For example, double-clicking the power button can quickly call up the health code.

In the business scenario, the new ready for 3.5 adds support for multi-screen operation of applications, and also comprehensively upgrades the connectivity of products such as display screens, PCs, and tablet computers, which can bring a better fast office experience.
