    Baseus Storm 1

The appearance of Baseus Storm 1 earbuds adopts aurora gradient design, which has excellent texture and is not easy to get fingerprints. The performance of noise cancellation is also remarkable, but the performance of transparent mode needs to be strengthened. The sound quality experience is also satisfactory.

    Appearance Design & Accessories

    Baseus Storm 1

The charging case adopts the contrasting color design of the grape black bottom case and the blueberry color upper cover. The overall matte texture is more wear-resistant. There is a groove on the front of the charging case that is convenient for fingers to open and close, and below the groove is the working indicator of the charging case. Only the Baseus brand name is printed on the back of the charging case, keeping the overall shape of the charging case simple.

The orange position at the bottom of the charging case is the Type-C charging interface, and the side of the charging interface is the pairing button for bluetooth connection pairing.

The design of the earbuds appearance is a common style on the market, and the one in my hand is gradient black. The gradient effect of Baseus Storm 1 is mainly highlighted in the earbuds, which is a relatively rare gradient color earbuds.

The microphone pickup hole at the bottom of the headphone stem is used for the voice/call of the earbud to provide the pickup function. The top of the headphone stem is provided with a feed-forward microphone, which is used to work with the feed-back microphone to provide the function of active noise cancellation (ANC).

After removing the eartip, the earbud sound outlet has a flat round design, which can transmit more sound information. There are dense dust-proof holes on the sound outlet to ensure sound transmission and prevent foreign objects from entering the earbud.

After actual measurement, the overall weight of Baseus Storm 1 earbuds and charging case is about 44.2g. The weight of a single earbud is 4.7g, which is considered a heavy type among in-ear earbuds.

Baseus Storm 1 package includes: charging case, earbuds, Type-C charging cable, cartoon sticker, warranty card, instruction manual and a pair of S/M/L size eartips.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) & Calls

Baseus Storm 1 has three modes to choose from: normal mode, transparent mode and noise cancellation mode. There are three modes of noise cancellation: mild noise cancellation, deep noise cancellation and adaptive noise cancellation. In the normal mode, it has the effect of noise cancellation, but it is not as good as the noise cancellation mode. The transparent mode can clearly feedback to you the ambient sound. The noise cancellation mode produces different noise cancellation effects in response to different scenarios. After my experience, I still like the deep noise cancellation mode the most, and the noise cancellation depth reaches -42dB.

In terms of call experience, earbuds adopts six-mic call noise cancellation technology. The left and right earbuds have a total of six microphones to pick up sounds, which can pick up sounds accurately, collect more sound information, and provide services for noise cancellation in disguised form. The noise cancellation effect of earbuds is outstanding. With the orange rainstorm warning, we stood at the window for a call test. There is a lot of wind outside, and everyone participating in the call can get high-definition vocal feedback.

    Connectivity & Battery Life

Baseus Storm 1 is equipped with BES2500YP bluetooth chip, which supports dual-mode Bluetooth 5.2 and dual-device connection. After the earbuds are successfully paired with the mobile phone for the first time, they can be automatically connected when the cover is opened for subsequent use. The earbuds support in-ear sensing, play music automatically when you put on the earbuds, and automatically pause when you take off the earbuds.

Baseus Storm 1 does not support wireless charging, the earbud has a built-in 50mAh battery, and the battery capacity of the charging case is 400mAh. When the ANC is turned off, the battery life is about 5 hours, and it can maintain 20-23 hours of battery life when used with the charging case. After turning on ANC, it can achieve 15-18 hours of battery life.

    Baseus Storm 1

The earbuds are also equipped with Baseus Rapid Charge technology, which is officially advertised to charge for 10 minutes and talk for 2 hours. This may be the best ideal effect, but charging is really fast, about an hour or so from 1% of the power.

    Comfort Fit & Controls

Baseus Storm 1In terms of wearing experience, there is still no problem this time, but I personally think that I have worked hard on the problem of “ear pressure”, a common problem with noise cancellation headphones. The ear pressure is not obvious, and there is no obvious oppression, and the overall wearing experience is relatively good. The sound delay is not obvious, the official data is within 38ms, and you can have a better audio syncs up with visual experience in the game.

The touch function of the Baseus Storm 1 earbuds is also very sensitive. The initial setting gesture functions are as follows: double-tap the left/right earbud to answer/hang up when there is an incoming call, long press the left/right earbud 2s to reject the call. When listening to a song, long press the left earbud to switch to the previous song, and long press the right earbud to switch to the next song. If you need to change the corresponding function of the gesture, you can customize it in the Baseus APP.

    Control of Baseus Storm 1:

    • Long press L/R earbud: Previous/Next
    • Long press L/R earbud 2s : Reject Call
    • Double tap L or R earbud: Answer/Hang up
    • Double tap L or R earbud: ANC ON/ANC OFF/Transparent Mode
    • Triple tap L or R earbud: Activate Voice Assistant

    Baseus APP

After connecting the earbuds to the mobile phone, you can set various functions of the earbuds through the Baseus APP. The main interface of the APP displays the current battery level of the device, the noise cancellation switch and various sound effects options. The second page of the APP is a preview of the location of the earbuds, and also provides a function to find the earbuds by making the earbuds sound. On the third page of the APP, users can upgrade the earbuds firmware and customize the control method.

    Baseus Storm 1

In terms of sound effect selection, Baseus APP provides up to 12 sound effect options for Storm 1, covering different adjustments such as sound style switching, tri-frequency switching, etc., providing users with rich sound effect choices. In the third interface, users can choose whether to enable in-ear detection, low-latency mode, and custom gesture control.

    Acoustic Configuration & Sound Quality

Baseus uses a high-rigidity titanium-coated diaphragm for Storm 1 to achieve pure low-frequency performance with the help of dynamic driver characteristics. In addition to the adjustment of Baseus audio team and compensation in software, the total harmonic distortion is ≤0.09%.

    Baseus Storm 1

Judging from the frequency response curve officially provided by Baseus, the overall effect of earbuds tends to be a tuning style that is convex on both sides and concave in the middle, and the instrument will have a strong sense of atmosphere and surround the vocals. The frequency response curve of earbuds at 20Hz~50Hz is extremely high, and the sound at very low frequencies will be very bright. The frequency response curve of 2KHz-5KHz is also relatively high, and there is a peak when it is close to 3KHz, and the performance of high-frequency instruments and presence will be stronger.

In terms of vocals, the frequency band of 300~500Hz is a main frequency band that shows the thickness and strength of vocals. The earbuds are processed horizontally in the frequency range of 200Hz~800Hz, which can ensure that the vocals have tension and thickness. After 800Hz, the contour of the vocals is improved.

    Baseus Storm 1

I auditioned Jay Chou’s “青花瓷”. This song has various instruments such as flute, guqin, guzheng, drum, castanets, violin, etc. The whole song is plain and beautiful, with a deep sadness. In actual listening, Baseus Storm1 processes various instruments in an orderly manner. Although there are many kinds of musical instruments, their respective sounds do not interfere with each other, reflecting strong analytical power.

The overall atmosphere of earbuds is strong, the low frequency is loud, and the high frequency is cool. Due to the reduction of earbuds after 8KHz, the overtones of instruments such as Guzheng and Guqin have been reduced, resulting in such instruments not having a strong sense of space. However, as earbuds with a sense of atmosphere, the reduction of the sense of space brings a warmer and more emotional listening experience.
