    Moondrop NEKOCAKE

Moondrop NEKOCAKE should be the rare TWS earbuds with ANC function at this price. Its sound is also quite good in tws, much stronger than some TWS with outrageous sound but more expensive. NEKOCAKE brought me a lot of surprises, because the experience of Moondrop NEKOCAKE when using it is not a product at this price.

The disadvantages of Moondrop NEKOCAKE are mainly plastic material, weak noise reduction, inability to connect multiple devices and high latency. But after all, it’s only $43, we can’t ask for too much, with active noise reduction, APP and sound quality…

    Recommended Index: 8.5/10

    Appearance & Specifications

Moondrop NEKOCAKE The charging case is a rounded rectangle made of plastic frosted material, which is light in weight and smooth to the touch. There is a button on the back, press about 5s to pair the device. At the bottom is the type-c charging port.

    Moondrop NEKOCAKE

Moondrop NEKOCAKE is a long earphone handle design, white oval cavity, oval eartips, the overall style is very simple. The earbuds shell is also made of frosted plastic material, which is relatively light in weight, not very good in workmanship and texture, and has no obvious burr. This matte material feels smoother, thinner, and has obvious seams.

NEKOCAKE uses a 13mm titanium dome composite diaphragm dynamic driver, which is an oval filter and eartip, which fits well and can be worn well for small ears.

    Moondrop NEKOCAKE specifications:

    • Bluetooth 5.0 with AAC
    • 4+12 Battery life
    • 13mm dynamic driver
    • Titanium dome composite diaphragm
    • Digital active noise-canceling
    • Single-binaural mode

    APP Support and Battery Life

The MOONDROP LINK APP contains five tuning configurations, namely Balanced, Moondrop Classic, X’Dynamic, Nobass, and Wennebostel, all developed by the Moondrop team. Each style is different, you can choose according to your own preferences. My favorite is Moondro Cclassic because my playlist is full of soft and quiet songs. This sound can bring a more lazy and comfortable atmosphere.

The earphones can be used for about 4 hours in battery life. When the charging case is fully charged, it can be used for about 12 hours in total. For users who just use it to listen to songs on the way to and from get off work, it is no problem to maintain it for a week. However, one thing I have to say is that this headphones uses Bluetooth 5.0. In the experience, there is still some delay compared to Bluetooth 5.2, and heavy gamers should consider higher-grade gaming headphones.

    Sound Quality of Moondrop NEKOCAKE

The earbuds use Bluetooth 5.0, so there is no need to worry about driver issues for bluetooth headphones, just a mobile phone. The noise floor has a slight perception, which belongs to the ordinary level in tws.

    Moondrop NEKOCAKE

Subjective sense of hearing: Based on M eartips, the default Balanced tuning

Low Frequency: The low frequency response of Moondrop NEKOCAKE is similar to harman ie, that is, the low frequency is raised to 200hz and terminated. Limited by factors such as the size of tws, the extension is poor, the sense of strength is average, the sense of dispersion is relatively strong, and the sense of atmosphere is ok.

Mid Frequency: The human voice is close, the rise of 200-1200hz makes the human voice sound warmer, and the male and female voices are a bit warmer and thicker. Around 7000hz, the sibilance and graininess are better avoided, and the human voice is warmer and more comfortable to listen to.

High Frequency: The high frequency brightness is within the normal range, and the transparency is average. Around 7000hz makes the lines feel average, not very good. The brightness at 3000hz is slightly less, which makes it a little lacking when listening to some classical music (but this can be improved with the preset EQ), but this also makes NEKOCAKE softer and tuneful when playing pop music.

Others: The overall is fairly balanced, warm, and the tone is basically normal. The performance of pop vocals is better than that of classical music, it is softer and tuneful, and the sound field is not too big. Playing large-scale tracks will feel rushed, and the transient performance is average.
