    OPPO Enco R

OPPO Enco R, as a semi-in-ear earbuds, provides a user experience that combines wearing and sound quality for users who are not suitable for wearing in-ear earbuds. In daily use, earbud has built-in AI deep call noise cancellation technology, providing users with a high-definition call experience.

OPPO Enco R specs and features:

    Appearance Design

    OPPO Enco R

The appearance of the OPPO Enco R charging case continues the family-style design of OPPO’s “cobblestone”. The front of the charging case is designed with a working status indicator, and the material is made of piano paint.

    OPPO Enco R

The back of the charging case is also designed very concisely, and the light-colored “OPPO” logo is printed on the hinge hinge. The Type-C interface is designed at the bottom of the charging case.

The overall appearance of earbuds continues the design of OPPO Enco Air2. The ergonomic handle-shaped semi-in-ear design provides a comfortable fit.

    OPPO Enco R

The top of the earbud retains the acclaimed touch groove design on the OPPO Enco Air2. OPPO Enco R provides the function of double-tap to take pictures, which works well for selfies and snapshots. There is a pressure relief hole near the sound outlet of the headphone head, which also has the function of tuning.

    OPPO Enco R

The noise cancellation microphone pickup hole at the top of the headphone stem collects ambient sound for noise cancellation during calls. There are two metal contacts at the bottom of the headphone stem for charging, and a call pickup hole is arranged in the middle of the charging metal contacts to provide pickup function for calls.

    OPPO Enco R

After actual measurement, the total weight of earbuds + charging case is 40.3g, which is relatively light in most TWS earbuds. The weight of a single earbud is 3.6g, and the lightweight design brings more comfortable wearing.

    Comfort & Calling

    OPPO Enco R

In terms of wearing, the OPPO Enco series has always had an excellent performance, and the OPPO Enco R, which inherited the family lineage, also brings users a very comfortable wearing experience. The earbuds have a near-no sense wearing, and the earbuds are still firmly worn when the head is shaken left and right.

In terms of calls, OPPO Enco R has built-in AI deep call noise cancellation technology. This technology uses artificial intelligence algorithms to simulate the binaural auditory system and intelligently filters noise to extract human voices. Therefore, when making calls, OPPO Enco R provides a high-definition calling experience that is not lost to in-ear earbuds.

    Connectivity & Battery Life

    OPPO Enco R

When the earbuds are connected to an OPPO phone, a pop-up window will be displayed and the quick connection function is supported. Users can also switch between different pop-up themes through the APP.

OPPO Enco R supports Bluetooth 5.2 low-latency dual transmission technology, and has a built-in full-link low-latency game mode that reduces latency to 94ms. When using the game mode to play the game, the previous phenomenon of audio and video out of sync has been effectively improved.

    OPPO Enco R

In terms of battery life, the earbud has a single battery life of 4 hours and a comprehensive battery life of 20 hours. The overall battery life is short, suitable for light users. Wired charging test for OPPO Enco R using a portable power tester. The charging voltage is about 4.98V, the charging current is about 0.35A, and the charging power is about 1.76W.

Sound Quality of OPPO Enco R

In terms of audio coding, OPPO Enco R supports AAC and SBC audio coding, and you can choose the coding technology suitable for your mobile phone on the bluetooth details page. The earbud is equipped with a 13.4mm composite titanium-coated diaphragm dynamic driver, which can release twice as much sound energy as the ordinary 12mm diaphragm unit, providing an excellent sound quality experience.

Low frequencies are easily lost during transmission, which is a common problem with most semi-in-ear earbuds. This also leads to the phenomenon of earbuds in the low frequency performance, such as hollow, sunken, and lack of texture. Therefore, OPPO is equipped with a unique bass conduit inside the earbud, which provides a larger sound cavity volume for the speaker, further improves the low frequency effect, and makes the bass more full and powerful.

    OPPO Enco R

When testing the OPPO Enco R, we chose the AAC audio encoding format. When listening to the Naruto theme song “Lovers”, the low frequency of OPPO Enco R has an amazing performance. The drum sound extends deep, rebounds quickly, and the overall performance is crisp and neat. The low frequency performance is almost as good as that of in-ear earbuds at the same price.

In terms of vocals, Enco Live sound effects are turned on when listening to songs. The effect of the new sound effects is still quite outstanding, the singer’s unique lazy tone has been better restored, but the sound is a bit thin.

In terms of high frequency, the high frequency part of earbuds is more cheerful, and the sound is active and dynamic, which can make the earphones have a little more joy in the balance, which is a small surprise.

So what are the differences between Enco R and Air 2?
Judging by this review and official Oppo page the only differences are: CNY 179 vs CNY 299 (Enco R), charging case (lower mAh (Enco R)), presence of one tap gesture (Enco R), “personalized theme” in HeyMelody app (Enco R).
      Do they really sound differently?

You are absolutely right. There is little difference between the two, except for the addition of some insignificant features (Enco R). I also don’t understand OPPO’s official intention to launch this earbuds. I think more consumers are willing to save 120 CNY for gourmet food.
