Appearance Design and Comfort

Oladance OWS Pro has been fully iterated in design, both the headphones and the charging case are more refined.

The charging case adopts the flat design, and the overall shape is square – it looks like a rounded rectangle from the top. There are four power indicators on the front of the charging case to indicate the power status. There is a Type-C charging port on the back.

Oladance OWS Pro headphones have an ear-hook structure, but compared to the three-section structure of Oladance OWS 2, the lines of OWS Pro are more smoother and natural.

The main part of the headphone is made of skin-friendly soft silicone + “ceramic skin” material. The dark soft silicone material is comfortable to the touch, and the bright “ceramic skin” material is self-developed by Oladance – after 8 layers of coloring process, the appearance is as warm and lustrous as ceramic – the touch is as delicate as skin, making the headphones full of texture.

There are speaker holes and air vents on the inside of the OWS Pro. In addition, at the end of the ear hook, there is also a power button. A strip-shaped “press-sensitive/slide touch button” is set on the side of the sound cavity, which can recognize two different operations of pressing and sliding, thereby realizing different control methods.

The wearing method of Oladance OWS Pro is the same as that of Shokz OpenFit, which adopts the ear-hook and non-in-ear wearing method. Just hang the headphone on the top of the ear according to the direction on both sides, and position the sound unit to face the ear canal to complete the wearing.

Oladance OWS Pro has greatly improved the appearance design and ergonomic design. It not only has a smoother and more fitting earhook line, but also simplifies the structure of the earhook tail, which greatly reduces the weight of the headphone and the foreign body feeling on the ear.

In terms of wearing comfort, the Oladance OWS Pro is as “solid” as ever. Although the newly designed earhook structure simplifies the curve, it introduces a new support structure with three points and one curved surface. After running and cycling with the Oladance OWS Pro, I found that the headphones remained firmly in place during intense action.

Connectivity, Control and App

The headphone uses the Bluetooth 5.3 chip and support SBC codec. The connection method of OWS Pro is very simple, the same as wireless earbuds – open the lid, and the headphones will enter the pairing mode, at this time, select “OWS Pro” from the phone bluetooth setting to complete the connection.

Also, Oladance OWS Pro support multi-point connection function – can connect mobile phone and computer at the same time.

The control design of the Oladance OWS Pro is very distinctive. Unlike other TWS earbuds that are controlled through the touch area – OWS Pro has a long “press-sensing/sliding touch button” on the side of the sound cavity – it can recognize two different operations of pressing and sliding touch, so as to realize different control functions.

For example, Single-tap control button – play/pause music and answer call. Double-tap – previous/next song and end call. Triple-tap – activate voice assistant. Swipe up/down – volume+ and volume-. Compared with the single touch solution, Oladance OWS Pro has richer control functions.

In addition to viewing the connection status and real-time power of the headphones in the Oladance App, you can also perform touch customization, equalizer adjustment, and more through the App.

Sound Leakage and Sound Quality Review

In terms of basic sound, thanks to the multi-magnetic circuit high-resolution speaker and the self-developed thin and rigid diaphragm, the high-resolution sound details are restored and the clarity is improved. There is also a self-developed second-generation bass enhancement algorithm (Virtual Base 2nd), which uses large dynamic power to improve low-frequency sound quality performance – the sound presented by OWS Pro is full and clear.

Although the headphone is not in-ear design, the built-in speaker has two diaphragms and two sets of magnetic circuits, so that the sound quality of the headphone breaks through the limit of the size of the speaker – they still has a thick low-frequency quantity and excellent transparent. The comprehensive hearing is strong, comparable to some semi-in-ear earbuds, especially when listening to music with a strong sense of rhythm during exercise.

Also, there is an option to customize the EQ in the Oladance App. If you’re not satisfied with the default tuning style, you can also choose from the preset “Default”, “Bass” and “Vocal” – or make custom adjustments.

In terms of volume and leakage control, Oladance OWS Pro also has excellent performance. In order to bring a more shock hearing, each of the left and right headphones is equipped with a top-level independent amplifier chip, which greatly improves the bass audio signal of OWS Pro.

I tested it in a quieter office environment and found that although the maximum volume of the Oladance OWS Pro is very loud, under the blessing of the directional sound transmission algorithm, there will be a slight sound leakage when the volume is above 80%. There is basically no need to worry about privacy leaks or interference to others during daily listening and use.

Focus Mode, Hearing Protection Mode and Wind Noise Mode

It is worth mentioning that in the Oladance App, there are three scene modes to choose from – Focus Mode, Hearing Protection Mode, Call Anti-Wind Noise Mode.

Focus Mode: Focus mode is not noise reduction, but after turning on this mode, Oladance OWS Pro will use six pickup microphones to pick up the ambient sound, and then calculate the reverse sound wave of some mid-high-frequency ambient noise – let users have a more immersive and focused experience in a quiet environment. At the same time, it can automatically detect the current environmental conditions, and the headphones will automatically exit the focus mode when needed.

After actual measurement, I found that the “Focus Mode” can suppress low-frequency continuous noises such as air conditioners and fan motors to a certain extent.

Hearing Protection Mode: The headphones will observe the state of the user’s hearing system, while ensuring audio reproduction, avoid hearing fiber damage due to receiving too much sound wave energy – wearing Oladance OWS Pro for a long time will not cause hearing damage.

Call Anti-Wind Noise Mode: Each headphone is equipped with 6 microphones, which are used to offset excess external sound waves and accurately separate human voice and environmental sound. OWS Pro is equipped with Oladance’s self-developed anti-wind noise technology, which can significantly reduce wind noise, allowing you to talk with confidence.

Charging and Battery Life

I did a charging test with the Oladance OWS Pro using a professional tester – the charging case has a wired charging power of 3.39W. Also, OWS Pro support fast charging function – 15 minutes of charging, 6 hours of listening to music.

The single battery life of OWS Pro is up to 16 hours, and the combined battery life with the charging case is up to 58 hours. The battery life performance is very excellent, and it is also the longest single battery life among the wireless earbuds I have used.

In addition, thanks to the extra “power button” on the headphones, it can be turned on/off manually without a charging case, which further improve the battery life.

Conclusion

Based on the OWS (Open Wearable Stereo) form defined by the previous generation, Oladance OWS Pro has raised the appearance design and comfort of open-ear headphones to a new level. With the power amplifier chip, it brings audio-level sound quality. The ultra-long battery life inherited from the previous generation combined with comfortable wearing makes OWS Pro a flagship open-ear headphones that is extremely suitable for all-weather wear.
