As Mi fans, the most dissatisfied product for Xiaomi in the past two years is wireless earphones. Other earphones brands have released products with beautiful appearance, good sound quality and highly praised products. But Xiaomi’s true wireless earphones have continued following the previous design. Apart from other things, at least in terms of appearance, there is no desire to buy.
The ZMI PurPods Pro launched by Xiaomi’s supply chain company ZMI has attracted the attention of many Mi fans. Many Mi Fans collected information about this earphones on the Internet on the day it was released, hoping that it can become the best companion for Xiaomi phones.
After all, it supports pop-up animation like the Xiaomi earphones, and it has a nice appearance.
After using ZMI PurPods Pro for two weeks, let me talk about the experience of this earphones.
Let me start with the conclusion. I personally think that it is the most cost-effective wireless noise-cancelling earphones with Xiaomi mobile phones.
Appearance
Abandoning the pure white packaging, switching to a black background color and ear pattern more highlights the earphones body.
The accessories are very simple, charging case (include earphones), two pairs of eartips, Tpye-C charging cable, manual, and ZMI packaging have always been “environmentally friendly”.
The charging case has a square and round design, and the white PC case is very smooth.
The metallic ZMI logo in the lower right corner further enhances the exquisiteness of the entire charging case.
The use of metal for the hinge on the back is completely beyond my expectation. At this price, it is the first time that I have seen a wireless earphones charging case with metal hinges. The feedback of metal hinges when opening and closing is far from comparable to plastic materials.
When the lid is opened, the ZMI logo will also light up at the same time. This design is great. (It also lights up when charging)
Tap the ZMI logo, and you can judge the remaining battery power by the color of the indicator light.
The ZMI PurPods Pro charging case also supports wireless charging, so my wireless power bank came in handy.
The charging case is light and compact.
The only regret is that the mold-closing lines on both sides of the front are not tightly seamed. I don’t know if there will be further improvements in the process later.
Recently updated the animated pop-up window, which is also a feature that many Mi Fans have always wanted. The animation effect is very cool even after opening the cover.
The ZMI PurPods Pro earphones uses a mainstream in-ear design, which is also related to the positioning of active noise reduction.
The interaction method is realized by slightly pressing the earphone handle, which is less prone to false touches than the light touch method. This interaction was slightly unaccustomed at the beginning.
Specific interaction method:
Pause/play/answer/hang up/: stand-alone earphones on either side; previous song: double-click the left earphone; next song: double-click the right earphone; wake up voice assistant: three-level earphones on either side; noise reduction mode /Transparent mode: long press any earphone
Of course, with the pop-up animation of Xiaomi mobile phones, you can also adjust the interaction mode. I am very accustomed to the operation logic of ZMI PurPods Pro, and I have not adjusted it.
Noise reduction experience:
ZMI PurPods Pro earphoness have a noise reduction mode and a transparent mode, which can provide ANC dual active noise reduction and achieve a noise reduction depth of 35dB.
I adjusted the suction power of the home vacuuming robot to the maximum. If I don’t wear earphoness, the noise is quite amazing. After wearing earphoness and turning on the noise reduction mode, the low-frequency and irritating sound of the sweeping robot is immediately reduced a lot. If you want to quantify the data, I think it can reach more than 80%.
Typing with a mechanical keyboard in the noise reduction mode is even more a wonderful experience. The keyboard touch feedback from the fingertips is coupled with the sound feedback. Now the sound has been eliminated by 80%, leaving only the touch of the fingers, which is very strange and very wonderful.
My family lives near the airport. After turning on the noise reduction mode, the high-frequency harsh sound when the plane is landing will not be reduced much, but the noisy sound of cars and people on the road will be significantly reduced.
Therefore, the noise reduction mode is not omnipotent. It has a more obvious effect on low-frequency sound, and it is similar to the voice of people, the noise of children, and the sound of car horns. Don’t expect it to suppress it all.
On the other hand, keeping this part of the voice is also for the sake of safety.
I wore ZMI PurPods Pro earphoness and went to Xiaomi’s house to experience it. The noise reduction is almost 90% of the effect of Xiaomi A2P, which is beyond my expectation.
After listening to a friend who owns the Sony XM3, his evaluation is that it is far from the top noise-cancelling earphoness. I can also accept this evaluation. After all, the price difference is far, obviously unrealistic.
As for the transparent mode, it is another magical experience. When this mode is turned on, the CPU fan of the computer on the desktop rotates, and the typing sound of the mechanical keyboard seems to be heard by the ear. How to describe it, the whole world is more transparent? However, as far as my personal use is concerned, the transparent mode is still used less.
Another thing that exceeds my expectations is the delay of the ZMI PurPods Pro earphones. After entering the game, ZMI PurPods Pro will automatically enter the game mode. I really can’t perceive the delay when playing PUBG Mobile. The sound after shooting is feedback to the individual. It is considered instantaneous, and it is not a problem to hear the voice.
In terms of sound quality, it’s not professional, just talk about subjective feelings. The overall feeling is more balanced, the vocal restoration is more accurate, the bass effect is better, and there is no discomfort.
The stability of the connection is much better than expected. Compared with the two wireless earphones I currently use, the connection is more stable in a complex outdoor environment, and there is no sudden disconnection of the left and right earphones. The signal measured indoors is still quite stable after a wall, and there is still a signal after two walls, but the stability is worse.
In terms of battery life, in the noise reduction mode, it lasted 6 hours and 51 minutes from 100% to no battery. If it is in the transparent mode or the noise reduction is turned off, the battery life will be longer. This does not count the amount of power that the charging case can provide. It can be said that the battery life of ZMI PurPods Pro is very strong.
In addition, in terms of charging speed, it can charge 50% in 15 minutes, which is also very fast.
In general, the appearance, wireless charging configuration, noise reduction performance and cost-effectiveness of ZMI PurPods Pro earphones have exceeded my expectations, especially the addition of pop-up animations, giving Mi fans a sense of exclusiveness.
There are currently two shortcomings, one is the previously mentioned parting line problem, and the other is temporarily insufficient supply.
