Technics EAH-AZ80 is equipped with Active Noise Cancellation and LDAC code, which allows users to freely set ambient sound control (100 levels) and sound mode switching in the APP. What’s even more surprising is that 3 bluetooth devices can be connected at the same time.

Technics EAH-AZ80 specs and features:

Appearance Design, Comfort and Battery Life

The charging case is designed to open horizontally and is in the form of a “long box”. Due to the need to put in a wireless charging module, the size of the Technics EAH-AZ80 is medium to large in TWS earbuds.

The touch control area on the outside of the earphone cavity is made of metal wire drawing process, engraved with Technics Logo. On the side of the control area, there is also a pickup microphone for Active Noise Cancellation. The inside of the cavity is provided with metal contacts, a magnetic suction module and microphone hole.

Technics EAH-AZ80 earbuds are bean-shaped in-ear earbuds, and the weight of a single earbud is 6.2g. Although the size of the earbud is relatively large, it still has a high level of comfort.

The cavity has been ergonomically processed, which effectively reduces the pressure of the earbud on the auricle. However, the cavity has a certain thickness, and when worn, the earbuds will protrude from the ear. Therefore, I do not recommend sleeping on your side with the EAH-AZ80 on.

After the ANC is turned on, the single battery life is up to 7 hours, and the total battery life is up to 24 hours. Also, the Technics EAH-AZ80 support Qi wireless charging.

Connectivity, App and Control

The connection method of EAH-AZ80 is “take out and connection”. In the factory state, you can search for “Technics EAH-AZ80” in the bluetooth list of the mobile phone after taking out the earbuds from the charging case. If you need to reconnect to a new device, there are also instructions in the Technics Audio Connect App, which is very easy to do.

Also, Technics EAH-AZ80 support multi-point connection function – can connect 3 bluetooth devices at the same time. However, LDAC cannot be turned on after connecting three devices.

In the Technics Audio Connect App, you can adjust the noise canceling mode, switch the sound effect (preset EQ), find the earbuds, and more.

The control method of EAH-AZ80 is similar to other Technics TWS earbuds. The previous/next track, play/pause, volume adjustment and noise canceling control can be realized by single-tap, double-tap, triple-tap and long-press. In addition, the control functions can be customized in the app.

ANC Noise Cancellation

Technics EAH-AZ80 support smart noise cancellation, which can create a more immersive listening experience through Active Noise Cancellation.

After I turned on the noise cancellation mode in outdoor, bus, subway, office and other scenes, I found that after turning on the ANC mode, the EAH-AZ80 can effectively suppress the low-frequency continuous noise in the environmental noise.

In addition, you can switch to transparent mode by long pressing the earbuds. Through the app, it is also possible to switch between transparent mode and attention mode (enhanced vocal).

Overall, the ANC performance of EAH-AZ80 is basically the same as that of Technics EAH-AZ40M2 – it is at the mainstream level among ANC earbuds, but there is still a certain gap with the latest flagship TWS earbuds on the market. Therefore, ANC can be used as an auxiliary function for listening to music – but it is not recommended to buy Technics EAH-AZ80 for ANC.

Technics EAH-AZ80 Sound Quality Review

The earbud uses the Bluetooth 5.3 chip and supports SBC/AAC/LDAC codec. However, LDAC can only be used when one bluetooth device is connected. Also, Technics EAH-AZ80 also support LC3 encoding – LC3 encoding can provide high-quality audio and call experience at low data rates, thus improving battery life.

The sound quality of Technics EAH-AZ80 is also relatively good. Unlike the Technics EAH-AZ60, which focuses on heavy bass, the sound of the EAH-AZ80 is more balanced. In the low-frequency, the restrained tuning style prevents the bass part from covering up the overall sound performance. The low-frequency transient response is faster, the extension is not deep, and the rebound is slightly slower.

The vocal position is moderate, with some taste of monitoring headphones. The high-frequency extension is deep, but not harsh, and female vocals will be better in this part. Although the Technics EAH-AZ80 uses 10mm aluminum free-edge dynamic driver, but the overall sound is very balanced.

Conclusion

Technics EAH-AZ80 is a TWS earbuds with both appearance and sound quality. If you are a user who likes Japanese listening and J-Pop music, then EAH-AZ80 is a good choice.
