Sony’s internal innovation team launched a special headset for running——Off-Ear Headphones on Indiegogo. The concept is closer to the head-mounted speaker, and the appearance is clip-on. At the same time, the earphone is not in contact with the ear, maintaining the comfort of the ear and listening to the environmental sound.
The suggested retail price of Sony Off-Ear Headphones is 14,200 yen. The early bird price is 8,500 yen. Special early bird price is 11,300 yen. It is only sent to Japan and the United States, and is expected to ship in August 2022.
▲Using a unique off-ear design
The design concept of Off-Ear Headphones is similar to the clip-on earphones that were quite popular more than ten years ago. However, the clip-on earphones at that time still had a sponge in contact with the ear and formed a semi-open structure. Wearing it over time will still cause pressure on the ears due to the ear-clamping mechanism, and at the same time, it will easily cause the earphones to shake if used for sports.
▲Using 16mm dynamic driver
Off-Ear Headphones is a way to wear clip-on headphones, like the earphones are hung on the outer ear through the earhook, and the sound is transmitted to the ear through the 16mm driver with a directional design. In addition to wearing it easily and naturally, it can hear the outside world. In addition to the sound, it is also known to reduce the noise of friction between the body and the skin during running.
Sony Off-Ear Headphones weigh about 34g, use bluetooth 5.0 specifications, are IPX4 waterproof, provide 10 hours of music playback endurance, and have a call function. The controller is located on the ear clip of the right earphone.
