After entering the wireless era, it can be said that it has aroused more and more people’s desire to listen to music. People who used to buy headphones for no more than $20 are now willing to spend more than $100 for a pair of wireless headphones to listen to music. This seems to have become a common phenomenon. However, due to the impact of wireless on the sound quality of headphones, the sound quality of many wireless headphones currently on the market is difficult to satisfy, especially the bass part that is easily perceivable by the human ear, and the performance is even worse.

    Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO

Skullcandy recently released the CRUSHER EVO, an advanced version of their previous wireless headset CRUSHER. At first, I didn’t have very big expectations for the sound quality of this headset, but after actually listening, I felt it was worth talking about.

Before the release of CRUSHER EVO, Skullcandy’s CRUSHER series headphones have launched two models, namely the basic CRUSHER and the CRUSHER ANC with active noise reduction function, and the positioning of the CRUSHER EVO happens to be between the two.

    Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO

First of all, in terms of appearance design, the overall style framework of the three CRUSHER headphones is basically the same, but there are some differences in details. The appearance of Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO is very close to the Skullcandy CRUSHER ANC with active noise reduction function, which means that it is still difficult to distinguish the two directly from the appearance. Of course, the advantage is that CRUSHER EVO continues the excellent workmanship and texture of CRUSHER ANC, so it can fully bear its price and positioning. The weight of 312g is also very heavy. The headset supports folding placement to save space in the backpack.

The earphone shell is treated with a skin-like coating, and the top of the head beam is even made of a material similar to a fleece cloth, which feels satisfactory. In addition, the filling part at the head beam is full and elastic, which can give the head a certain amount of cushioning and support when worn, and there will be no feeling of head pressure when worn for a long time.

Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO’s earmuffs are not too big in size, so they cannot completely cover the entire ear when worn, but because the material of the earmuffs is very soft, you will not feel any discomfort when wearing them. If you insist on picking up the problem in appearance, it may be that the anti-fingerprint ability of the Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO black model is relatively average, and the look and feel may be affected, while the performance of the other gray-blue color scheme is slightly better.

The button layout is the same as Skullcandy CRUSHER ANC. The power button on the left is distinguished by a sharp contrast color. Downward is the unique “adjustable somatosensory vibration bass slider” of the CRUSHER series. This detailed function will be discussed later. The bottom charging interface is Type-C, and it is equipped with a 3.5mm interface to turn it into a wired headset. On the right are three conventional control buttons, which are responsible for volume and song control. The middle button is specially designed to distinguish between the other two buttons. The blind operation is very easy to use, and the pressing feels firm and the feedback is clear.

One more commendable little detail is that when you change the song manually, the headset will gradually reduce the volume of the currently playing song to silent before switching to the next song. This transition is more natural and the experience of listening to the song Would be better.

    Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO

The sound is the amazing part of Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO. Due to the limitation of sound quality of many wireless headsets currently on the market, the tuning is often adjusted in the direction of “warm thick”. Although this is beneficial to the hearing, it will lose a lot of music detail.

The obvious difference between the CRUSHER EVO and other headphones at first hearing is that its sound is very clean and thorough, the lines are obvious, the three-dimensional feeling is strong, and many details in the music are preserved, and the three-frequency distribution is very balanced, and the low-frequency volume is even It’s a little bit less than I expected (strictly speaking, it belongs to the normal range). Although listening to music such as rock and electronic music is not enjoyable, it is better for different styles of music.

    Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO

Don’t be disappointed if you only listen to music such as rock and electronic music. The aforementioned “adjustable somatosensory vibration bass slider” will come in handy. After adjusting the slider, the overall sound orientation of the earphone will change. Under the premise of ensuring that the mid-high frequency is not negatively affected, the energy sense of the earphone bass can be improved to a certain extent. On the other hand, after turning on this function, Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO will be based on the bass part of the music currently being played. During the process, the headphones will produce a rhythmic vibration. As the slider is continuously pulled up, the vibration will continue to increase. Great, to bring you an unprecedented listening experience. However, I don’t recommend turning on this function for a long time to listen to songs, it is more to increase the fun of listening to songs.

Another interesting point is the personalized sound adjustment function of Skullcandy and Audiodo. About Audiodo, this is a technology company headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, and has more than 30 years of experience in acoustic algorithms. Audiodo’s personalized sound adjustment function is developed by the staff who love music, using the power of digital signal processing to provide every music lover with perfect sound quality. You can analyze the listening situation of your left and right ears through the official Skullcandy APP, so as to create your own audio settings to suit your listening taste. Of course, if you are not satisfied with the sound after turning it on, you can also choose to turn it off.

    Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO

In terms of battery life, the total battery life of Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO and Skullcandy CRUSHER is about 40 hours. If it is a light user like me, there is basically no problem with charging once a week. Charging speed is the focus of this CRUSHER EVO battery life upgrade. The official claims that it can be used for about 4 hours after 10 minutes of charging, whether it is 2 hours compared to Skullcandy CRUSHER or 3 hours of Skullcandy CRUSHER ANC.

    Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO

In fact, Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO is similar to Skullcandy CRUSHER ANC in many aspects, except that it lacks active noise reduction, but in exchange for longer battery life and faster charging speed, the overall configuration is significantly improved compared to Skullcandy CRUSHER. In terms of price, there is not much difference between the two. If you are more dependent on the noise reduction function, Skullcandy CRUSHER ANC is undoubtedly a better choice, but if you are looking for battery life and have little demand for noise reduction, you can consider the more cost-effective Skullcandy CRUSHER EVO.
