TWS headset has developed so far and has derived categories such as sports, focused sound quality, sleep, etc. The requirements of users can often lead to the birth of a new category of products. The portability of TWS headphones has been sought after by consumers since its inception, but when users use TWS earphones in games, they find a problem. The excessive delay of the headphone leads to the problem of poor gaming experience.

Lenovo is concerned about the problem of excessive delay when users use TWS headphones to play games, and launched Lenovo LP6 gaming earphones to optimize the user’s gaming experience. Lenovo LP6 has built-in “AAC HD decoding video mode/AGC precise control game mode“. In terms of internal configuration, earphones use a 13mm biological diaphragm with three-band equalization to support automatic equalization adjustment. In terms of battery life, Lenovo LP6 earphones can achieve up to 30 hours of battery life with the charging case. In terms of charging, earphones support fast charging for 10 minutes of charging and 60 minutes of battery life.

52audio recently got the Lenovo LP6 and teardown it to study how it can achieve a cost-effective low-latency game mode and fast charging. Interested friends, let’s take a look.

Injoinic integrated MCU TWS charging case management SoC model IP5518. A multi-function power management SoC integrating 5V boost converter, lithium battery charging management, and battery level indication provides a complete power solution for TWS charging case.

The high integration and rich functions of IP5518 make it only need very few peripheral devices in application, and effectively reduce the size of the overall solution and reduce the cost of BOM. The IP5518 chip has a built-in 5V output, synchronous rectification boost DC-DC, built-in power tube, providing a maximum output current of 300mA, and boosting efficiency as high as 93%. The DC-DC converter switches at 1.5MHz and can support low-cost inductors and capacitors.

The linear charging of IP5518 provides a maximum charging current of 500mA, and the maximum charging current can be flexibly configured. The built-in IC temperature and input voltage intelligently adjust the charging current function. The IP5518 can realize the independent storage detection of earphone by TWS, and automatically enter the earphone charging mode after detecting that the earphone is in the storage. After the earphone is fully charged, it automatically enters the sleep state, and the quiescent current can be reduced to a minimum of 20uA. The earphones can be flexibly customized to judge the full current, and the full current detection accuracy is as high as 1mA.

According to 52audio, a large number of TWS charging cases of Edifier, ZTE, JLab, HiBy, Baseus, Pioneer, PIHEN, BULL, AUKEY, MPOW, BoAt, Nokia, Lenovo, AMOI and other brands have adopted the Injoinic power management solution.

02/ Lenovo LP6 earphones teardown

After teardown charging case, let’s disassemble earphones to see what secrets are inside.

First remove the headphone shell along the parting line.

There is a dynamic driver inside the earphone shell.

The soft pack battery and magnet are designed in the back cavity of the earphone head.

Take out the battery in the back cavity of the headphone head, the dynamic driver and the soft pack battery are connected to the earphone motherboard on the headphone handle through the opening of the back cavity of the headphone head through the wire.

Headphone battery information, model SQX451012, rated voltage 3.7V, rated capacity 35mAh/0.1296Wh.

Remove the dynamic driver from the headphone head shell, and use a lot of glue to fix the dynamic driver in the headphone head shell.

The front of the dynamic driver is protected by a metal protective case.

On the back of the dynamic driver, there are tuning holes to improve the acoustic performance.

After actual measurement, the size of Lenovo LP6 earphones dynamic driver is about 13.14mm.

Then let’s take a look at earphone’s motherboard. First remove the case at the bottom of the headphone stem, then pry open the back cover of the headphone stem.

The back cover of the earphone handle is positioned and assembled together through the column hole, and the top of the back cover of the earphone handle is also provided with touch-sensitive copper foil.
