Once upon a time, JBL speakers were still a trusted brand in the eyes of HIFI speaker enthusiasts. However, with the change of JBL’s market strategy, today’s JBL has long since deviated from the direction of HIF speakers and favored the field of mass consumer electronics.

Although some people are a little bit disdainful in terms of grades, from the perspective of market performance, JBL’s transformation is still quite successful. Various bluetooth speakers and bluetooth earphones are emerging in endlessly, and there is always no shortage of sales anyway.

What I want to share in this article is the JBL TUNE 215 true wireless bluetooth earphones. It has been on the market for less than a month. The original price is 999RMB, and the usual promotional price is 799RMB. However, this will already be 670RMB. This is a typical JBL style. The price changes too fast, which I don’t like. One of the reasons for JBL.

▲The main reason for evaluating the JBL TUNE215 was that when I recommended the German Teufel AIRY true wireless earphones, someone privately asked me whether the two molds look exactly the same, so the performance can be more intuitively compared. I personally took a closer look, and it is indeed very similar. I bought it and saw that there was no obvious difference except that the JBL TUNE215 was a bit bigger.

▲In fact, I have encountered the similar appearance of true wireless earphones more than three times. I believe there are still some topics, so let’s compare them. Because the JBL TUNE215 has a slightly larger cavity, its charging case is also slightly larger.

But everyone should understand that the size of the charging case is not only related to the volume of the earphone cavity, but also related to its battery capacity. The JBL official stated that the battery capacity data is 660 mA, and Teufel is 500 mA. Is it the same as I said?

In terms of materials, both are made of plastic. The JBL TUNE215 earphones are frosted and still have a clear plastic feel; Teufel AIRY uses a skin-like process with a much less plastic feel; secondly, both have a color. There are several colors, I wanted to buy a blue JBL TUNE215 more intuitive, but unfortunately there is no blue.

▲On the side of the charging case, JBL TUNE215 designs the charging port on the back, and uses the TypeC charging port that supports fast charging; Teufel AIRY uses the Micro USB charging port, which may be its only disadvantage.

▲Because the molds are almost the same, there is no obvious difference in the design of the charging case. In the open hinge of personal concern, JBL TUNE215 uses a plastic hinge, and Teufel AIRY uses the same hidden metal spring hinge as Airpods. The actual experience is different. Not big, but the latter is more durable in life.

▲In addition to the similarity in the appearance of the cavity, there are still obvious differences in the details. The back cover and earphone handle of JBL TUNE215 have not been specially treated, but the two sides have a mirror effect; the entire back cover and earphone handle of Teufel AIRY have a layer of lacquer effect, and there are chamfers. So no matter which is higher or lower in terms of visual effects, at least the Germans are more attitudes than the Americans in terms of design.

▲The difference between the inside of the two earphones is a bit more obvious. In the protruding part of the sound hole, the whole surface of JBL TUNE215 is slowly gathered and raised; the Teufel AIRY is relatively simple, as shown in the picture above; the difference in design between the two Reflected in wearing, Teufel AIRY’s cavity volume is medium to small. In addition to the cavity can be fixed on the cochlea, its sound hole can also enter the ear canal deeper; the design of JBL TUNE215 is not bad, that is, the cavity is too large. It’s bigger, and it’s not as comfortable as Teufel AIRY earphones fixed on the cochlea, so the wearing comfort is naturally weaker.

However, it should be emphasized here that although the JBL TUNE215 has a larger cavity, its built-in battery capacity is 10 mA (50 mA/6 mA 0) less than Teufel AIRY.

▲In terms of workmanship, the filter of the JBL TUNE215 true wireless earphone is made of very thin spinning material, and the filter of the Teufel AIRY earphone is made of metal.

▲In actual experience, both of them can enter the bluetooth pairing state by opening the cover and taking out the earphones, and both are TWS+ solutions. That is, no matter which earphone you take first, you can pair it. You can also wear a earphone for two people at the same time (but only connect to the same mobile phone); while wearing a pair of earphones, remove the earphone and put it into the charging case or When used by another person, the earphones will not pause.

In terms of operation, the gap between the two is widened. I didn’t expect that JBL TUNE215 used physical buttons to operate. I didn’t pay attention to it when I bought it. The advertising slogan used in it was “exquisite control, one touch.” People who worked on ad copy writing in the year did not realize that this was a physical button operation. I saw the “force feedback button” in the text below the main copy. I really admire this.

But this is actually not critical, after all, many true wireless earphones in the past two years have physical buttons. What I want to criticize is its operating logic. The operating logic of JBL TUNE215 is like this. When you wear two earphones, the left click is the previous song, double click is the next song; the right click is pause/start, double click Was to wake up the voice assistant.

In other words, if you want to pause/start, you can only operate the right earphone; if you want the left earphone to also operate the pause/start, you can only wear the left side.

▲If you think I am deliberately criticizing JBL TUNE215, then you have to see how Teufel AIRY operates.

Control method, Teufel AIRY adopts touch operation, it is the same regardless of the left earphone or the right earphone, click pause/start, double click the next song, triple click the previous song, long press to wake up the voice assistant, and no matter what Whether you wear one earphones or two, it is true.

The operation logic is simple and clear, and it is much more comfortable than the JBL TUNE215.

▲Bluetooth: Both of them do not use Qualcomm chips, and both support AAC. The individual random test of signal strength is not divided into upper and lower, quasi-first-line standards. In terms of delay control, both are qualified but not first-line. Personal experience thinks that Teufel AIRY is slightly better.

In terms of calls, although both support noise reduction calls, the Teufel AIRY earphones is obviously better than the JBL TUNE215.

▲Sound quality: Both have good low frequencies, and they did not deliberately highlight the analysis. They have good low frequency extension and instrumental separation. JBL TUNE215 is relatively tighter and more flexible, while Teufel AIRY has a wider sound field and maintains a certain level. The degree of stretch at the same time has a good sense of instrumental separation and a natural atmosphere; the overall sound bottom thickness, including the sense of volume, is similar, and their low frequencies are relatively good in true wireless earphones.

The vocal difference is obvious. The vocal of JBL TUNE215 earphones is relatively clean, so the mellowness will be a little bit more; Teufel AIRY’s vocal is a neutral tuning, which is slightly lighter than JBL TUNE215, but it is more obvious The three-dimensional sense of the timbre is more natural in terms of the fineness of the timbre changes, and its low-mid and low-frequency layering is very good. If it slightly increases the resolution, I think its sound quality can squeeze into the first-line standard of TWS earphones.

Generally speaking, the sound of these two TWS earphones is very good. Although I only talked about the low frequency, it does not mean that they are different in high frequency. I personally think that for TWS earphones, if you want to count the higher frequency, then First, the overall sound quality needs to reach a certain level.

The sound quality of most TWS earphones does not reach this level, including the Sony 1000XM3. I just want to emphasize this point here because the personal judgment on the sound quality of true wireless earphones is higher than that of most reviewers. The main reason is that I also like to play with HIFI earphones and speakers, so I judge The sound quality of TWS earphones is put into the whole earphone category. I hope you can understand my good intentions.

▲Overall summary part

If it were not for comparative evaluation, I would give it a pass evaluation for the performance of the JBL TUNE215 true wireless earphones, the only thing to criticize is its price.

You must know that the daily price of Teufel AIRY is only 699RMB, the event price is 599RMB, and the promotion price is 509 CNY. This is only a price that conforms to the Chinese TWS earphones market.

But if you compare it directly, you can actually see that as a new TWS earphones, JBL TUNE 215TWS uses physical buttons in order to completely eliminate the risk of accidental touch, but it still uses the current interaction when the function is relatively simple. The plan is a bit unreasonable.

If Teufel AIRY earphones are a famous brand like Sony/BOSE, then it can be said that JBL TUNE215 is imitating Teufel AIRY without success. The only improvement is that the charging case supports fast charging externally and internally, while Teufel AIRY only supports fast charging internally.

Of course, I have to admit that JBL is more famous in China than Teufel, so the question is, how to choose it depends on your psychology.
