    JadeAudio JW1 review: FiiO-tuned open-ear earbuds under $30

JadeAudio JW1 relies on FiiO Audio, which has a good show in quality and performance. In particular, the open-ear structure will not cause pressure on the ears, which is very suitable for wearing in the office, commuting or cycling.

FiiO JadeAudio JW1 specs and features:
    • Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC/AAC codec
    • 14.2mm large dynamic driver
    • 6 hours playback of per charge
    • Charging case can charge earbuds fully 2 times
    • IPX5 waterproof rating (rain and sweat resistant)
    • $27 – Check latest price on AliExpress (Official Store)

Appearance Design, Comfort and Battery Life

The charging case adopts the pull-out design, with one headphone on each side. Built-in Hall switch, open the cover to automatically power on and connect, and close the cover to automatically shut down.

JadeAudio JW1 headphones adopt an open-ear earhook structure, and the shell is made of engineering plastic. There is a metal isolation net on the outside of the headphone cavity to prevent debris from entering, and the outer end of the earhook is an LED light and touch control area (depressed area).

While I found the earhooks to be a relatively stiff material, I didn’t have high expectations for their comfort. However, after a day of actual use, I found that the JadeAudio JW1 can really hang comfortably on the ear for several hours, and there is no foreign body sensation. You can communicate with people at any time, and you can listen to music safely while riding.

The battery capacity of the charging case is 250mAh, and the headphone is 65mAh. The headphones have a single battery life of up to 6 hours (50% volume), and the total battery life of up to 18 hours.

    Connectivity and Control

The headphones uses the Bluetooth 5.3 chip and supports SBC/AAC codec. When connecting for the first time, just select “JadeAudio JW1” in your phone’s bluetooth device list to connect quickly. If you need to re-pair, you need to press and hold the touch area of the headphone for 5 seconds until the indicator light flashes white and green alternately.

The operating experience is more interesting – the touch area of common earphones is designed on the outside that is easy to be touched by fingers. But the JadeAudio JW1 is not. If you don’t read the manual when you first use it, I’m afraid it’s hard for you to guess that its touch area is the concave area at the end of the earhook – behind the earlobe.

Play/pause music, previous/next track, answer/end call, activate voice assistant can be realized by double-tap, triple-tap, four-tap and long press. Unfortunately, there is no way to adjust the volume through the headphones.

    JadeAudio JW1 Sound Quality Review

The headphone has a built-in 14.2mm composite diaphragm dynamic driver, which supports ACC and SBC audio encoding. In addition, JadeAudio JW1 is tuned by FiiO Audio as the sound basis.

The tri-frequency structure of JadeAudio JW1 is slightly biased towards the mid-frequency and high-frequency, and the high-frequency has an absolute advantage in the sound frame. The high-frequency is bright and detailed. The female voice is sweet and beautiful. The resolution and separation are excellent.

The mid-frequency vocals will be a little cooler, but not too thin. At the same time, the mouth shape will not be exaggerated to enhance the performance of popular vocals, and the overall mouth shape is still relatively moderate. The vocal distance will not be too close to the ear to please the ear.

The low-frequency performance will be more biased towards the sense of speed, and the recovery will be faster. The overall low-frequency quantity is not too much, but the extension depth is still relatively deep. In addition, the horizontal soundstage of JadeAudio JW1 is very wide.

    Conclusion

JadeAudio JW1 relies on FiiO Audio, which has a good show in quality and performance. Especially for sports enthusiasts, it is a very good choice – commuting, office or exercise, they can all be satisfied.
