Jabra Evolve2 Buds is a true wireless earphones under the Jabra that mainly focuses on remote conference calls. Through 4-Mic+2VPU bone conduction sensor+Jabra AI algorithm, it intelligently filters unnecessary noise and provides high-quality call effects. Equipped with a wireless receiver, it can effectively improve the sound quality and call stability. At the same time, the farther wireless connection range brings a more free call experience.

Jabra Evolve2 Buds supports the active noise cancellation function, providing three levels of noise reduction depth and five levels of transparency mode, which can be customized and adjusted according to the surrounding noise environment. Supports Peakstop hearing protection, which monitors audio in real time and eliminates potentially harmful sound spikes. In terms of battery life, the single battery life is 8-10 hours of music playback/5 hours of talk time, and the overall battery life can reach 33 hours. The charging case supports wireless charging and has passed Qi certification, providing a more convenient charging experience.

01/ Jabra Evolve2 Buds charging case teardown

Remove the silicone charging cockpit.

The internal structure of the cavity, the internal components are fixed on the red bracket and fixed by screws.

Remove the screws and take out the stand.

The top structure of the bracket fixes the main board and the power input small board through buckles, and connects the two PCB boards through a flat cable.

The bottom structure of the bracket is equipped with a wireless charging receiving coil.

The side structure of the bracket fixes the battery unit inside for better protection.

Open the flat cable, remove the main board and the power input board.

Take out the battery, all components on the stand.

SGM ‎SGM41511 is an I2C controlled 3A single-cell battery charger with high input voltage capability and Narrow Voltage DC (NVDC) power path management for single-cell Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries. ‎The SGM41511 supports fast charging and supports a wide input voltage range for smartphones, tablets, and portable systems. I²C programming makes it a very flexible solution for power supply and charger designs.

ConvenientPower CPS4019 high-efficiency wireless charging receiving chip, supports 5W wireless charging receiving. The chip integrates a synchronous rectifier and a low-dropout voltage regulator for charging system devices and batteries, providing a good experience for devices powered by built-in batteries.

CPS4019 integrates 8051 core, built-in 16KB MTP memory and 2KB SRAM, supports advanced power management and ultra-low standby power consumption. The chip has I²C pins and GPIO pins, supports output voltage adjustment, and has a built-in 12-bit ADC for collecting all parameters of input and output. The chip has built-in rectifier overvoltage protection, LDO overcurrent protection and overheat protection, and is packaged in WLCSP-30.

The circuit on one side of the power input board is provided with a USB-C charging socket and a flat cable connector.

The wireless charging receiving coil is set on the magnetic shielding sticker.

The built-in lithium battery in the charging case is wrapped with high-temperature insulating tape, model: VDL 912332, voltage: 3.8V, capacity: 770mAh 2.926Wh, from VDL.

The circuit on one side of the battery protection board is equipped with a Y1UD lithium battery protection IC, a MOS tube, and a thermistor for detecting the battery temperature.


02/ Jabra Evolve2 Buds earphones teardown

Enter the teardown part of the earphone and open the cavity along the parting line.

The internal structure of the earphone rear cavity is provided with a motherboard unit.

The inner structure of the cavity, and the function button structure in the middle. On both sides are the acoustic structure of the microphone, which adopts an anti-wind noise design to reduce the impact of wind noise. The golden contact is the electrode that connects the LDS laser antenna to the motherboard. The white circle part is the indicator light guide column.

The circuit on one side of the earphone motherboard is provided with a shielding cover.

Remove the shielding cover, and set the step-down inductor below.

The Qualcomm QCC5141 bluetooth audio SoC is an ultra-low power single-chip solution in a WLCSP package with a smaller size. Supports Bluetooth 5.2, with programmable DSP, optimized for true wireless earbuds and hearing devices, can support Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound technology.

Qualcomm QCC5141 combines high-performance audio with low power consumption, supports 24bit/96KHz high-resolution audio, Qualcomm aptX and aptX Adaptive technology. It supports aptX Voice optimized call voice and the eighth-generation Qualcomm cVc echo cancellation and noise suppression technology. Support Qualcomm adaptive ANC functions, including feedforward, feedback, hybrid and adaptive, and support third-party innovation through Qualcomm extensions.

03/ Wireless receiver teardown

Disassemble the metal USB-A case of the wireless receiver and take out the motherboard unit.

The circuit on the side of the motherboard uses the onboard printed bluetooth antenna for signal transmission.

On the other side of the motherboard, solder an indicator light.

The wireless receiver uses Qualcomm QCC5126 bluetooth audio SoC, which belongs to the QCC51XX series as the QCC5141 inside the earphone. Quad-core processor architecture, built-in dual-core DSP audio subsystem, low power consumption design. It supports digital active noise cancellation technology and aptX Adaptive codec, and integrates enhanced features such as stability, good sound quality, scalability, low latency and low bit rate audio transmission.

04/ Summary

The appearance of Jabra Evolve2 Buds continues the family-style design style, which is unique and highly recognizable. The overall shell has a matte texture, and the coating is delicate to the touch, making it comfortable to hold and wear. The charging case adopts a unique silicone cockpit structure, which can better protect earbuds. The earbud adopts the bean-shaped in-ear design, which is small and light, and fits comfortably and firmly to the ear canal.

In terms of internal structure and configuration, the charging case has a built-in VDL 770mAh lithium battery, which supports both wired and wireless charging methods. Wired charging uses SGM ‎SGM41511 charging IC, which supports fast charging and I²C programming. Wireless charging adopts ConvenientPower CPS4019 high-efficiency wireless charging receiving chip, power 5W, built-in rectifier overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection and overheating protection. The ST STM32L072CB low-power MCU is used for charging case control.

The internal structure of the earbud is exquisitely designed, and the components are stacked layer by layer, which makes good use of the limited space inside the earbud, and is connected through connectors, which is easy to assemble. In terms of main configuration, it is equipped with a 5.37mm dynamic driver, and the single earbud is equipped with 2 MEMS microphones + VPU bone conduction sensors, which are used for hybrid ANC, voice calls, and call noise reduction functions. It adopts a steel shell button battery with a capacity of 0.259Wh, provided by MIC-POWER.

The earbud main control chip adopts Qualcomm QCC5141 bluetooth audio SoC, supports Bluetooth 5.2, Qualcomm aptX, aptX Voice, the eighth-generation Qualcomm cVc echo cancellation and noise suppression, adaptive ANC and other technologies, providing high-quality wireless audio experience for earbuds. The wireless receiver uses Qualcomm QCC5126 bluetooth audio SoC, which is matched with QCC5141 to provide stable wireless connection, high-definition sound quality and low latency.
