True wireless bluetooth headset transmission technology has become more and more mature in the past two years, and has greatly improved in terms of sound quality, stability and battery life. Most consumers are also very happy to abandon wired headsets and use true wireless bluetooth headsets. The current price of true wireless earphones of foreign brands is still relatively high, which leaves a relatively good development space for Chinese brands.

In the past two years, you should find that there are more and more brands of true wireless headsets in China, and some products have excellent design, workmanship, and sound quality, and they are relatively affordable in terms of prices.

Recently I got a Hero True Wireless bluetooth headset——Hero G2! The hero brand was established in 1958. Many parents born in the 80s and 90s have used hero radios.

The price of Hero G2 is only 199 RMB, mainly at entry-level price. However, the configuration and functions of this headset are relatively rich, and the basic mainstream true wireless bluetooth headsets have the configuration. For example, the charging case uses a Hall switch, which can open the box and pair devices automatically.

At present, many true wireless headset charging cases on the market have a rounded appearance, and the hero Hero G2 charging case is a cylindrical design. I still like this design. The overall size is not large, so it can be conveniently placed in a pocket.

In addition to the bluetooth headset, a Type-C charging cable and a manual are included in the package. The included charging cable is slightly shorter. The charging case and earphones are designed with matte texture. The grip feels good, and the touch feels very comfortable, not easy to stain with sweat and fingerprints.

At the bottom of the charging case is the Type-C charging interface, which supports 5V1A current, and the charging speed is relatively fast. The charging case has a built-in 380mAh battery, which can be fully charged in about 1.5 hours.

The battery life is a bright spot. The Hero G2 has a single battery life of 4 hours, and the total battery life with the charging case reaches 30 hours. It is a “long-distance runner” in the bluetooth headset, and the overall battery life is more prominent.

The earphone is a semi-in-ear design, and the overall weight is only about 40g, which is relatively light. The wearing comfort is still very good, the cavity can be stuck on the ear better, and it also has a certain degree of waterproof and sweat resistance. Don’t worry about earphone damage when you wear it during light exercise or sweating or when it is raining.

Hero G2 has an intelligent in-ear detection function, that is, take off a headset to pause music playback and automatically play it after wearing it. This function is more convenient to communicate with others while listening to a song or watching a movie, and there is no need to worry about playing the electronic course that you want to listen to after taking off the earphones to the later chapters. And to a certain extent, it can save power and extend the use time.

The headset supports primary and secondary switching, not the traditional way of connecting the mobile phone to the primary headset and then transmitting to the secondary headset. Instead, two earphones are connected to the mobile phone at the same time, so that the delay problem of true wireless bluetooth earphones can be avoided. The earphones can be used simultaneously or individually.

TWS earphones will have smart touch function. The operation logic of Hero G2 is very simple, and the function is similar to that of ordinary true wireless earphones. Double-click to play/pause or answer/hang up the call, long press for about two seconds, the headset is the previous song/next song, three-click the right headset to turn on the game mode, long press for one second to reject the call.

In terms of sound quality, the Hero G2 headset uses a 13mm liquid crystal polymer composite diaphragm. Generally speaking, a loudspeaker unit with a large diaphragm will be more dominant in dynamic response, and it is easier to tune a sound with rich layers and heavier bass than a smaller-sized micro dynamic circle. In addition, the official mentioned that this headset supports 360° game panoramic sound effects.

Judging from the response frequency curve, Hero G2 has a certain sense of low volume, with a slight depression in the mid frequency and a good response to the treble. In the actual audition, the overall sound tends to be warm and soft, with good details in the middle and high pitch. In the entry-level bluetooth wireless headset belongs to the upper middle level. The sound field is very large, the sound is not dry, there is a good stereo surround feeling, and the human voice will appear smoother and emotional.

The bass performance is good, there is a certain sense of percussion and power. Moreover, the bass does not appear vague and dull, which is still rare in entry-level true wireless headphones.

For bluetooth headsets, many people should be concerned about whether the connection of the lower-priced bluetooth headsets is stable, and will there be disconnections?

The Hero G2 headset is actually the same as most mid-to-high-end bluetooth headsets. It uses bluetooth 5.0 dual-channel transmission, with stable signal and strong anti-interference. The connection range performs well within 10 meters.

The headset has a low latency of 50-65ms in game mode, and the speaker sensitivity is 96dB±3dB without frame loss and connection interruption. The performance and experience of audio and video synchronization are good.

Finally, many people buy true wireless bluetooth headsets, the main purpose is not only to listen to music, but also to call. The Hero G2 has a high degree of human voice recognition, and it also supports the currently popular ENC noise reduction call, which can filter external noise very well. When you make calls to others in noisy environments such as on the road, buses, subways, etc., the other party can hear you more clearly.

I checked some information before the evaluation. Hero brand headphones are very popular abroad and their sales are very good. Judging from the trial and testing, the experience of using Hero G2 exceeded expectations. Especially the sound quality experience, call noise reduction is very clear, and also preset the ear protection volume. The price of less than two hundred RMB is worth looking forward to in all aspects. This is certainly not a perfect pair of headphones, but the performance-to-price ratio completely exceeded my expectations.

Here is a summary of my feelings of use:
  1. The display color and function of the charging indicator are slightly single.
  2. The aptX transmission protocol is not supported, but the AAC high bit rate transmission mode is supported.
  3. Compared with high-end true wireless earphones, what Hero G2 may lack is the wireless charging function. But this should be the reason for the cost, and there should be a wireless charging version for higher-end models in the future.
  4. The bass effect is slightly better than expected. I think the most rare thing is that the overall sound is not dull.
  5. The biggest highlight is the sound. It should be the sound that most people find very good, transparent and natural.
