Edifier Retro Pro

The Edifier Retro Pro costs less than $50, but it performs very well in terms of design, noise cancelling and battery life. Barely can be said to be a cost-effective product. If you also want to buy a cost-effective tws noise cancelling headphone, Edifier Retro Pro is also a good choice (but not the only one), which can be used as a reference.

The Edifier Retro Pro’s packaging uses a “drawer-style” opening method, which is as ceremonial as opening a gift box. After opening, it contains: earbuds, charging case, 3 pairs of earbuds, Type-C cable, manual and mobile airbag holder.

Without the earbuds

The Edifier Retro Pro charging case is a retro green tone, and the entire body is not only small, but also has a smooth, pebble-like feel. In addition, in order to strengthen this retro charm, a “radio” shape is also designed on the left side of the charging case, which is really creative compared to other headphone charging cases on the market.

There are two indicator lights on the right, which can clearly display the connection status and power of the earbuds. At the bottom of the charging case is the Type-C charging port.

Edifier Retro Pro earbuds also use the same retro green as the charging case. Combined with the rounded body lines, the first visual impression of Retro Pro earbuds to me is “exquisite”. The earbuds use an in-ear design with L/R logos respectively. The headphone stem is not very long, and there is an oval microphone on it.

Battery Life & Gaming Latency

The battery life of the Edifier Retro Pro earbuds has also been tested in practice. Turn on the ANC mode, and the battery life is about 4 hours. With the charging case, it can provide about 12 hours of battery life. If it is standard mode, it can also use 4.5+13.5 hours. It only takes 1 hour to fully charge the earbuds, and about 1.5 hours to fully charge the charging case, and the charging speed is relatively fast.

The Edifier Retro Pro has a latency as low as 80ms after turning on the game mode. When connecting to a mobile phone for gaming experience, the sound effects are in place immediately, there is no latency and the connection is stable. The sound and picture are synchronized, and it is easy to control the rhythm of the whole game.

Comfort & Noise Cancelling

Although it is an in-ear earbuds, the actual wearing of the Edifier Retro Pro earbuds is very comfortable. There is no obvious pressure on the ear, and the wearing is relatively stable, and there is no easy loosening or falling off.

Edifier Retro Pro adopts hybrid active noise cancelling technology, and the noise cancelling depth can reach -38dB. So I did a test comparison before and after noise cancelling, and I could still hear a little outside noise before noise cancelling. After turning on the ANC mode, standing outside the balcony, the chirping of cars on the road downstairs and the noise of the shops are completely inaudible. The surrounding world becomes very quiet in an instant, and the noise cancelling effect is really obvious.

Retro Pro also supports AI call noise cancelling. With this function, like I often go out and call customers outside, even if I am on a bus or train, I can still have clear call quality in noisy environments. This makes the Edifier Retro Pro earbuds more practical and useful.

In addition, Edifier Retro Pro also has an ambient sound mode. The size can be adjusted when listening to the ambient sound, which not only ensures safety, but also does not miss information such as trains and flights.

Sound Quality & Control

Judging from the actual audition situation, the bass part of this earbuds is surging and rich. The midrange is very soft, the treble is transparent and clear, and the whole soundstage is very “live”. Overall, the Edifier Retro Pro’s sound quality performance can only be said to be just passing, and there is no outstanding part in the past. Of course, there are no major drawbacks. If you need a very good sound quality earbuds, then I do not recommend you to choose the Edifier Retro Pro.
