Appearance & Comfort

The Edifier Free Pro is composed of two parts, the outer lined cardboard and the inner box. The whole body is milky white, clean and simple. The front is a rendering of the headphones, and the lower right corner is the Hi-Res Audio dual certification icon. The back and side are the product information and selling points about the headset.

The accessories are relatively simple, including Type-C cable, manual and warranty card. To be honest, the accessories are indeed a bit too simplistic.

The Edifier Free Pro’s earmuffs and head beam are lightweight design, with a strong sense of wrapping, soft, comfortable and breathable. The earmuffs are made of skin-friendly protein leather material, and it is obvious that the earmuffs rebound very quickly when pressed.

Headphone head beam telescopic rod is made of plastic material, you can push and pull at will to choose the size of your head circumference. Unfortunately, the telescopic rod is not made of metal, which is one of the disadvantages of the Edifier Free Pro.

The earmuffs can be rotated and folded 90° for easy storage. And what I like most about this headset is the wraparound breathing light on the earmuffs, which looks very technological.

The Edifier Free Pro is very light in weight and will not feel burdensome and oppressive when worn on the ears. At the same time, this headset is very breathable, not stuffy ears and very refreshing.

Noise Cancellation & Battery Life

In terms of noise cancellation, using hybrid ANC technology, the noise cancellation depth can reach –38dB. The noise cancellation effect can only be said to be ok, and it has no isolation effect on the human voice. However, ambient noise such as the sound of vehicles driving has a better noise cancellation effect. If the room air conditioner is noisy, you may hear a faint sound. Edifier Free Pro also has AI call noise cancellation function. Equipped with DNN deep neural network call network noise cancellation technology, it can accurately pick up human voice and attenuate ambient noise.

Click the multi-function button to quickly switch between ambient sound mode, noise cancellation mode and standard mode. If you feel that the operation is troublesome, you can download the Edifier Connect APP to operate manually, and you will have a good experience.

In terms of battery life, when the ANC mode is turned off, the single battery life is up to 50 hours. When the ANC mode is turned on, the battery life can also reach 32 hours. And supports fast charging function, charging for 10 minutes, listening to music for 2 hours.

Connectivity & Control

The headphone uses a Bluetooth 5.0 chip. Press and hold the function button for 3 seconds, the white and orange lights flash quickly, automatically enter the bluetooth pairing, and the connection is very fast. Press and hold the function key for 5 seconds to clear the pairing record and re-pair.

Edifier Free Pro has a total of four buttons, namely volume +/- button, power button and multi-function button. Click the volume button to control the volume, long press to switch songs. The power button is to turn on/off the headset or answer/hang up the phone. Click the multi-function button to switch the noise cancellation mode, and double-click to switch to the game mode. The function of the multi-function button is a little cumbersome, but it is very sensitive when used.

Sound Quality of Edifier Free Pro

Edifier Free Pro is equipped with a 40mm titanium-plated composite diaphragm and supports LDAC high-definition decoding. The transmission sampling rate can be supported up to 24kHz/96bit, and the highest bit rate can be up to 990kbps, reducing the compression of audio files as much as possible, and transmitting Hi-Res audio almost losslessly, thus ensuring excellent sound quality. After turning it on, you can clearly feel that the resolution and sound field have been improved to varying degrees. Because it is the tuning style of pop music, the dynamic effect of the headphone is good, mainly because of the dynamic atmosphere.

In terms of tuning, the low-frequency quantity is full of sense and has a certain extension. The mid-frequency vocals are relatively close to the face, the distance is moderate, and the degree of restoration is high. High-frequency instruments are bright and tri-frequency balanced. In addition, Edifier Free Pro has passed the dual certification of HI-Res Audio and HI-Res Audio Wireless.

When testing the microphone, I found that the sound quality is very clear and the timbre is obvious. It’s easy to get caught up in an immersive call during a call.
