Apple launched the first generation of AirPods in 2016. And then, Apple released the AirPods 2, AirPods Pro and AirPods 3. Recently, 52audio got more information on the new Apple AirPods Pro 2. It brings many upgrades, including the upgraded SiP packaging system, the H1 chip, which supports self-adaptive active noise cancellation, and an improved “Find My” function. It also has new functions, like heart rate detection, hearing aid, USB-C port for better compatibility, and optimized fast charging.
Apple AirPods Pro 2 is again a master in overall design, incorporating the features and advantages of the previous generations. The overall appearance is similar to AirPods 3, but with newly added eartips for active noise cancellation. In other respects, the microphone openings and the sound cavity tuning holes are similar to AirPods 3. The headset stem also inherits the pressure-sensitive buttons of the previous generation.
In terms of the internal chip, the new Apple H1 packaging system brings better performance and improved power consumption based on higher integration and better manufacturing technology. It also supports the “self-adaptive” noise cancellation to provide users with a better noise cancellation experience.

And as for audio performance, 52audio finds that Apple AirPods Pro 2 will follow the acoustic characteristics of AirPods 3, equipped with a combination of customized high-amplitude drive units and high-dynamic-range amplifiers, presenting delicate sound quality. It also supports self-adaptive equalization, spatial audio for dynamic head tracking, audio sharing, and other functions, providing a rich wireless audio experience.
The MagSafe charging case has gone through several generations of products, and finally ushered in a major upgrade on the AirPods Pro 2. We can find the obvious changes in appearance from product pictures. Multiple openings are added on both sides of the USB-C port at the bottom, and two larger openings on the right side are protected by a decorative metal structure.
We also find that the openings on the right side are the microphone for the hearing aid. Sound can be collected through the charging case and transmitted to the earphone for sound enhancement and playback, helping people with hearing loss get the environment sound.The speaker is at the bottom, which can play the sound itself, and works with the “Find My” APP to help users get the location of the charging case more quickly.
As the USB-C port becomes the most commonly used port, the Lightning port of the charging case may also be replaced by USB-C port, just like the iPad. It can achieve better compatibility and performance on fast charging and pass the new EU regulations.
So, as the latest flagship product of Apple AirPods series, AirPods Pro 2 will witness a variety of upgrades according to the current information we have collected. Except for the upgrade of basic functions, the heart rate detection and hearing aid can further expand the usage scenarios of TWS earphones.
