AGM G1S Pro Review: Supports Thermal Imaging and Infrared Night Vision

After using the AGM GLORY G1S Pro for a few days, I found that it is really not very suitable for ordinary users. But it has great advantages for outdoor practitioners, and the GLORY G1S Pro can deal with more and harsher environments. The high configuration and the addition of 5G networks have also made AGM well-prepared to create an excellent user experience. If you are an outdoor practitioner, you may wish to consider this mobile phone when purchasing a mobile phone.

Appearance Design

The front of the AGM GLORY G1S Pro adopts a water drop full-screen design, equipped with a 6.53-inch screen with a resolution of 2340×1080. The screen material is Corning Gorilla Glass, which has strong scratch resistance.

The top of the water drop screen is the earpiece part, surrounded by an orange adhesive strip around the earpiece, and the orange adhesive strip also surrounds the entire phone screen. The rubber strip is 0.3mm higher than the screen, forming a C-shaped protective angle, which protects the possibility of the mobile phone screen being broken when it touches the ground to a certain extent. The front camera is 16MP.

The thinnest part of the side of the fuselage is 14.8mm, the length is 172.8mm, and the weight reaches 317g. It sounds like a big mac, but for outdoor use scenarios that require high durability, the built-in waterproof and anti-fall protective case will undoubtedly increase the durability of the phone.

The back of the phone is designed with Kevlar texture. In terms of photography, a 5-camera module is used, including 48MP main camera + 2MP macro + 20MP infrared night vision + thermal imaging. The arrangement of the camera modules is relatively symmetrical, and it also appears to be quite different.

Below the camera module is the fingerprint recognition module. AGM G1S Pro is an outdoor mobile phone, and stability is still very important. After all, the maturity of external fingerprint recognition technology is much higher than that of under-screen fingerprints.

The left side of the phone integrates a SIM card slot and an independent button for taking pictures. In some outdoor situations, the independent camera button does make shooting more convenient. After all, a 6.53-inch phone is difficult to operate with one hand. The right side of the phone is the volume button and the power button, and the buttons are anti-slip.

There is a laser emission port on the top of the mobile phone, which is widely used. The bottom of the fuselage integrates the charging port and the 3.5mm headphone jack, both of which are sealed with waterproof and dustproof plugs, and have better waterproof and dustproof effects in extreme environments.

Three-proof protection, very practical outdoors

The AGM GLORY G1S Pro supports IP68 (1.5m water depth immersion), IP69K (liquid high pressure shock) and MIL-STD-810H triple certification. Water resistance is guaranteed for outdoor use (even underwater).

The four corners of the AGM GLORY G1S Pro are reinforced with grooves, and a lanyard hole is set in the lower right corner. When used outdoors, it can be tied to a backpack, which is more convenient to use.

Professional Thermal Imaging

Compared with the G1 Pro, the AGM GLORY G1S Pro has further upgraded the thermal imaging function. For example, in professional mode, it includes color swatches, whole frame temperature measurement, regional temperature measurement, image mode, temperature measurement parameters, image calibration, time-lapse photography and settings.

Classic mode can also be selected. The content involved includes color swatches, time-lapse photography, full-frame temperature measurement and settings.

Professional Mode: The color palette corresponds to 9 color rendering modes: White Hot, Black Hot, Iron Red, Cool White, Cool Black, Red Hot, Rainbow, Ice Fire and Night Vision Green. Among them, iron red, red and rainbow are used to distinguish the temperature from the cold and warm colors. Several other color rendering modes distinguish the temperature by the shade of the color. The use of different color plates, in addition to the difficulty of distinguishing between high and low temperatures, I think it is also a matter of personal preference.

The main application scenarios of regional temperature measurement are complex temperature areas. In various parts of this temperature zone, there may be small regions of different temperatures. By means of points, lines, rectangles, circles, etc., the temperature of a small area can be presented as a whole to achieve better reference.

The thermal imaging function of the AGM GLORY G1S Pro includes four image modes: thermal imaging, dual-screen, fusion and picture-in-picture. The thermal imaging mode is well understood, which is our common thermal imaging screen. The dual-screen, fusion and picture-in-picture can be selected according to personal preferences, and the final result is to better understand the corresponding position of the temperature measurement area and carry out targeted processing.

In addition to the above mentioned, when using the thermal imaging function of AGM GLORY G1S Pro, you can also set basic values such as emissivity, ambient temperature, and target distance to obtain more accurate temperature measurement results. Time-lapse photography is more suitable for long-term temperature monitoring, such as testing whether the temperature is stable when the machine is running continuously. The temperature measurement range of GLORY G1S Pro can be selected from -20℃~150℃ and 100℃~550℃.

Another professional-grade feature of the thermal imaging capabilities of the AGM GLORY G1S Pro is the high resolution. The resolution of traditional thermal imagers is generally around 90×60, while the thermal image resolution of GLORY G1S Pro reaches 256×192, which is the standard of high-end thermal imagers.

The GLORY G1S Pro can also shoot thermal video, and it boosts the refresh rate from the 9Hz of traditional thermal imagers to 25Hz (up from 24Hz for film standards). Both photos and videos can be sent via social software.

Hardware Performance

The AGM GLORY G1S Pro is powered by a Qualcomm 480 processor, based on Android 11, and the phone’s running memory is 8GB RAM+128GB ROM.

In terms of games, the performance of this phone is average, after all, it is not specially designed for games. After testing, it is still no problem to play games such as “Honor of King”, and the frame rate of 60FPS can be maintained under medium special effects.

Battery Life & Charging

AGM GLORY G1S Pro has a built-in 5500mAh capacity battery, which can be used for a day at high intensity without any problem. It is equipped with an adapter with a maximum output power of 18W, but I think its charging speed is still relatively fast. Test when the battery has 3% remaining power. At this time, the charging voltage can reach 9.2V, the charging current can reach 1.6A, and the charging power is 14.7W.

It takes 2 hours and 50 minutes to charge the battery from 3% to 100%. After charging for 40 minutes, when the battery is about 40% charged, the current will decrease, and the current will continue to decrease throughout the charging process. The charging voltage begins to decrease when the charge reaches 80% in order to protect the battery from trickle charging.

Photography Performance

The AGM GLORY G1S Pro uses a 48MP main camera, and the pixel sensor comes from Sony IMX582. It is also equipped with a 2MP macro camera, which can help users capture the details of natural scenery when outdoors. The others are a thermal imaging camera in the middle and a 20MP infrared night vision lens in the lower right.

I think the GLORY G1S Pro performs well in terms of color rendering, sharpness, blurring and other effects, and it is enough for daily life records. The disadvantage may be that the backlight performance will be relatively general, but this phone is not a phone that focuses on taking pictures, so I think it is acceptable.

In addition to the thermal imaging module, the AGM GLORY G1S Pro’s 20MP infrared night vision camera can take black and white pictures in almost no-light scenes. Its purpose is not to take good pictures, but in very low light, it can be used as our eyes to detect the surrounding environment and creatures.
