Below this Shokz OpenFit 2 review, you will find sound comparison of the Shokz OpenFit 2 vs Shokz OpenFit.
Appearance Design and Comfort
The appearance of Shokz OpenFit 2 adopts the same design style as Shokz OpenFit (case + earphones). There is a groove on the front of the charging case to facilitate opening the lid, and there is a bar indicator on the groove. There is a Type-C charging port on the back.
The earphones adopt an earhook structure, which consists of a sound cavity, an earhook and an earphone stem. This is also a classic structural design of open earphones. The earhook uses a “dolphin arc” design, which can better adapt to different ear shapes and improve wearing comfort. The earhook is integrated with skin-friendly liquid silicone and feels soft; the built-in 0.7mm titanium alloy wire has good flexibility and resilience – it is also more friendly to users who wear glasses.
The cavity is made of silicone and titanium. The sides of the cavity are surrounded by metal, and the outside is made of silicone. The inner side of the cavity is made of metal, equipped with a U-shaped surround sound hole, and next to it is an independent high-frequency speaker hole. There are tuning holes on the top and bottom of the cavity, and they are covered with metal mesh for protection. There is a round physical button on the top of the cavity.
The part that fits the ear uses a double-layer silicone design, and the inner layer of silicone uses Shokz Ultra-Soft Silicone 2.0, which is softer than the previous model and reduces the sense of pressure. I tried to press it gently and could feel that it was very soft.
The weight of a single earphone is about 9.5g, which is quite light for an open-ear headphones of this type, and can effectively relieve the pressure caused by long time wear. After wearing it for an hour, there will be no obvious discomfort, and the overall comfort is good. The earphones have good stability and are not easy to fall off during workout. Also, it supports IP55 waterproof rating, so you can use it with confidence even when sweating during sports.
Connectivity, App Support and Controls
The earphones use Bluetooth 5.4 chips and support SBC and AAC codecs. When you open the charging case for the first time, it will automatically enter the bluetooth pairing state, and the indicator light will flash orange and green alternately – click “OpenFit 2 by Shokz” in the bluetooth list of your phone to complete the pairing. When you use it again, open the lid to automatically connect to the last successfully paired bluetooth device.
Also, Shokz OpenFit 2 supports MultiPoint Pairing (multipoint connection) and can connect mobile phone and computer at the same time. It should be noted that the MultiPoint Pairing function needs to be enabled in the app.
Shokz OpenFit 2 supports Shokz App for Android and iOS. On the app, you can see the power status of the earphones/charging case, select the sound mode (EQ), manage dual-device connection, customize button/controls, find earphones, set reminder tones, etc.
The OpenFit 2 has added a physical button to avoid accidental touches during exercise. Single-click the physical button to play/pause, double-click to play the next truck, and triple-click to play the previous truck. Long press the left earphone to reduce the volume, and long press the right earphone to increase the volume. The button feedback is accurate, the response speed is fast, and there is a prompt sound.
The earphones also support touch operation – the raised area on the outside of the cavity is the touch area (small bump), and long pressing can wake up the voice assistant. However, probably to prevent accidental touches, the touch function is disable by default and needs to be enable in the app. Additionally, the physical button functions can also be customized via the app.
Sound Leakage and Battery Life
The OpenFit 2 has two sound output parts, the middle one mainly outputs highs, and the U-shaped part mainly outputs bass – this is the DirectPitchâ„¢ 2.0 sound leakage reduction processing method, which improves the sound effect and further reduces the possibility of sound leakage. At 50% volume of the phone, no sound can be heard about 50cm away from the earphones.
Compared to the Shokz OpenFit, they have a single battery time increased by 4 hours to 11 hours, with a total battery life of up to 48 hours. Plus, it support fast charging function – charging for 10 minutes can listen to music for 2 hours.
Acoustic Configuration and Sound Quality (vs Shokz OpenFit)

Shokz OpenFit 2 uses a hybrid dual-unit design – the unit size is larger than Shokz OpenFit, and the two units are responsible for presenting sounds in different frequency bands. Also, it is equipped with the Shokz OpenBass 2.0 algorithm, which optimizes the listening experience according to the full frequency band in real time and compensates for EQ balance.
The earphone has a built-in 21*11mm dynamic driver (equivalent diameter of 17.3mm) with a dome structure in the center, which effectively improves the bass performance and maintains stable output even at large amplitudes. The other 5.5mm planar driver is a dual-magnetic circuit design with higher sensitivity, bringing more transparent highs.

Thanks to the hybrid dual-unit, the sound quality is significantly improved, and the sounding is much fuller than that of Shokz OpenFit. My first feeling is that the sound has become “clearer” – the highs details, extension, and transparency are all very good. Compared with the previous model, the sound contour and imaging have been significantly improved. The sound of the instruments is more substantial, and the vocal shape is clearer and more natural.
The default mode has deep bass, elasticity and details, but the sound atmosphere is much weaker and the reverberation decay is also more severe. After the bass enhancement mode is turned on, the bass quantity, elasticity and texture are much better than the default state, and the impact on the mids/highs details and soundstage is very small – especially when playing games and watching videos, I recommend turning this mode on all the time.
In the Shokz App, in addition to the default mode (standard mode), there are also vocal mode, bass enhancement mode, and treble enhancement mode to choose from. These different sound modes are more inclined to the performance of specific frequency bands, suitable for users with different preferences and different listening scenarios. Plus, you can customize EQ in the app.
Conclusion
Shokz OpenFit 2 is suitable for multiple scenarios. For users who like open-ear headphones and have certain requirements for wearing comfortable and battery life, it will not disappoint you. Compared with the previous model, the improvement of OpenFit 2 is very significant. Although the shape is not much different, the material, comfort, battery life, and acoustic configuration have all been greatly upgraded.
